Sen. Richard Blumenthal, one of just seven Senate Democrats to vote last week against resolutions to block U.S. arms sales to Israel, said that he still wants to maintain and restore bipartisan support for Israel.

Arrest Made in Congregation Beth Shalom Vandalism Incident

Oak Park, MI — Investigators have identified and arrested a suspect in connection with the reported property damage incident at Congregation Beth Shalom through a review of video footage obtained from the location. Oak Park Public Safety Officers recognized the individual as someone known to frequent the area.

At approximately 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 23, 2026, Oak Park Public Safety Officers took the suspect into custody near the intersection of 12 Mile Road and Coolidge Highway. The Oak Park Department of Public Safety is working with the Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office. Charges are pending review and no additional details can be released at this time.

The City of Oak Park remains committed to transparency, accountability, and the safety of all community members. Acts of vandalism, intimidation, or hate will not be tolerated.
