Metropolis Lighthouse "Hope Light" Worlds first lighthouse designed, built and dedicated to the fight against cancer.

The Metropolis Lighthouse a.k.a, Hope Light, is the worlds only lighthouse designed, built and dedicated exclusively to the fight against cancer. It is located at the entrance to Dorothy Miller Park in Metropolis, Illinois overlooking the Ohio River. The Lighthouse stands 30 foot tall and is designed to resemble a real lighthouse consisting of a white conical tower beneath a teal daymark band and

black lantern room with a flashing white-light beacon. Although it is dedicated to the fight against all cancers, the white tower represents the fight against lung cancer, the teal daymark band represents the fight against ovarian cancer, the black lantern room represents the dark journey experienced by cancer patients as they go from cancer detection, to diagnosis and through treatment with the white-light representing Hope!
