Save the Massac Theatre This group is dedicated to saving the Massac Theatre. Please help us restore this fine old lady of There are organizations that can help.

The theatre has now been secured by the Save the Massac Committee thanks to Larry Ward. The City of Metropolis had previously secured the building due to the deterioration and had plans for demolition of the building. The Save the Massac Committee had a plan, and we are working hard to make it a reality. In 2008 representatives from the Illinois Main Street program spoke at a public meeting at Cit

y Hall. Their opinion was that the theatre could and should be saved whether used as a movie theatre or not. The roof of the theatre has now been replaced, but there is much more to be done.
