“If it is disagreeable in your sight to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves today whom you will serve: whether the gods which your fathers served which were beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you are living; but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord." Joshua‬ ‭24:15‬ ‭

Serving God faithfully doesn’t happen by chance—it is a deliberate choice we make with every decision and action of our lives.

We decide to honor and obey the Lord, submitting to the promptings of the Holy Spirit and fleeing from our own sinful inclinations:
“For the mind set on the flesh is death, but the mind set on the Spirit is life and peace, because the mind set on the flesh is hostile toward God; for it does not subject itself to the law of God, for it is not even able to do so, and those who are in the flesh cannot please God.” Romans‬ ‭8:6-8‬ ‭

“Now flee from youthful lusts and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart.” 2 Timothy‬ ‭2:22‬

“Submit therefore to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded. Be miserable and mourn and weep; let your laughter be turned into mourning and your joy to gloom. Humble yourselves in the presence of the Lord, and He will exalt you.” James‬ ‭4:7-10‬ ‭

Teaching our family to follow God doesn’t occur by happenstance either—we must consciously model the life of faith to those we love, taking every opportunity to instruct them in the ways of the Lord.

Be blessed and be a blessing. The grace of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ is sufficient and more than enough.

“I solemnly charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead, and by His appearing and His kingdom: preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort, with great patience and instruction. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance to their own desires, and will turn away their ears from the truth and will turn aside to myths. But you, be sober in all things, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.” 2 Timothy‬ ‭4:1-5‬ ‭

Hallelujah! Praise God!!!

A time is coming when people will outright reject the truth of God’s Word, picking and choosing what to believe based on their desires and preferences.

They will follow the false doctrine of ungodly teachers who preach what they want to hear. And as in Paul’s day, they will persecute believers.

However, we must remain steadfast in our faith, knowing that we don’t answer to the. We are accountable to Christ and Christ alone, who will “judge the living and the dead” (2 Timothy 4:1).

Be blessed and be a blessing. The grace of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ is sufficient and more than enough.

Remember:
“For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words, the Son of Man will be ashamed of him when He comes in His glory, and the glory of the Father and of the holy angels.”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭9:26‬ ‭

“The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; A broken and a contrite heart, O God, You will not despise.” Psalms‬ ‭51:17‬ ‭

Thank you Lord!

We don’t have to be perfect when we go to the Lord. We just have to be willing to submit to Him and acknowledge that He knows what is best for us.

“Seek the Lord while He may be found; Call upon Him while He is near. Let the wicked forsake his way And the unrighteous man his thoughts; And let him return to the Lord, And He will have compassion on him, And to our God, For He will abundantly pardon.” Isaiah‬ ‭55:6-7‬ ‭

“In the day of my trouble I shall call upon You, For You will answer me. There is no one like You among the gods, O Lord, Nor are there any works like Yours. All nations whom You have made shall come and worship before You, O Lord, And they shall glorify Your name. For You are great and do wondrous deeds; You alone are God. Teach me Your way, O Lord; I will walk in Your truth; Unite my heart to fear Your name. I will give thanks to You, O Lord my God, with all my heart, And will glorify Your name forever.” Psalms‬ ‭86:7-12‬ ‭

Praise God!

It takes faith to pray. That’s probably why it’s sometimes so hard to get on our knees before God—we wonder, “What good will it do”?

However, we are assured that the Lord hears us and provides for our needs when we seek Him. Therefore, don’t look for other ways to solve your problems; rather, call upon Him with full assurance that the Lord God Almighty will help you.

“And Jesus answered saying to them, "Have faith in God.”
‭‭Mark‬ ‭11:22‬ ‭

Hallelujah!!!

Be blessed and be a blessing. The grace of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ is sufficient and more than enough.

“Incline Your ear, O Lord, and answer me; For I am afflicted and needy. Preserve my soul, for I am a godly man; O You my God, save Your servant who trusts in You. Be gracious to me, O Lord, For to You I cry all day long. Make glad the soul of Your servant, For to You, O Lord, I lift up my soul. For You, Lord, are good, and ready to forgive, And abundant in lovingkindness to all who call upon You. Give ear, O Lord, to my prayer; And give heed to the voice of my supplications!”
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭86:1-6‬ ‭

If God already knows all our desires and needs, then why should we pray? One word: RELATIONSHIP!

The Lord wants us to express ourselves to Him. If He were always to fill our needs without our seeking Him, we would never be vulnerable with Him. However, when we pray, we open ourselves to receive His love, power, wisdom, and provision.

“Therefore, beloved, since you look for these things, be diligent to be found by Him in peace, spotless and blameless, and regard the patience of our Lord as salvation; just as also our beloved brother Paul, according to the wisdom given him, wrote to you, as also in all his letters, speaking in them of these things, in which are some things hard to understand, which the untaught and unstable distort, as they do also the rest of the Scriptures, to their own destruction. You therefore, beloved, knowing this beforehand, be on your guard so that you are not carried away by the error of unprincipled men and fall from your own steadfastness, but grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory, both now and to the day of eternity. Amen.”
‭‭2 Peter‬ ‭3:14-18

We should be neither discouraged nor surprised when we come upon Bible passages or spiritual principles that are hard to understand.

Peter had the same difficulty at times—and God worked through hi to write Scripture. Like him, we should turn to the Lord for understanding.

The One who saves us is faithful to teach us His ways when we seek Him (Matthew 6:33).

The Father desires us to continue to grow spiritually, mentally, and emotionally, and He has provided the way for us to do this through reading and studying His Word (Romans 8:29; 12:2). This is where we renew our minds and learn even more about Him and His truth.

“Submit therefore to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.” James‬ ‭4:7‬

Praise God!

The enemy loves to tempt Christians to be prideful—to believe that they are responsible for their own success rather than God. We can resist the devil’s terrible influence by submitting ourselves to Christ.

This means we accept God’s wisdom and will, we trust His power and love; and we obey His commands. Nothing disarms the enemy faster than maintaining a heart before the Lord.

“But He gives more grace. Therefore He says: “God resists the proud, But gives grace to the humble.” James‬ ‭4:6‬

“Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up.” James‬ ‭4:10‬ ‭

“By this the children of God and the children of the devil are obvious: anyone who does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor the one who does not love his brother.”
‭‭1 John‬ ‭3:10‬

In this, John is not saying that if you sin, you are no longer a child of God. Though we try our best not to violate His will, we may sin at times—and He is ready willing and able to forgive us.

However, when your lifestyle is characterized by living in disobedience to the Lord, you show that you are not truly
His.

“For there is no good tree which produces bad fruit, nor, on the other hand, a bad tree which produces good fruit. For each tree is known by its own fruit. For men do not gather figs from thorns, nor do they pick grapes from a briar bush.”
‭‭Luke‬ ‭6:43-44‬ ‭

What kind of fruit do you bear? How would your family, co-workers, neighbors, and fellow church members describe you?

Would they say that you are loving or selfish? Godly or unscrupulous? Prideful or humble? The way to measure the effectiveness of your walk with the Lord is to see what is being produced.

Are people being drawn to God through you, or are they being turned off to Him because of your ways? You can only make a difference in this world for Christ if you abide in Him: “Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself unless it abides in the vine, so neither can you unless you abide in Me. I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me and I in him, he bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing.” John‬ ‭15:4-5‬ ‭

“Not that I have already obtained it or have already become perfect, but I press on so that I may lay hold of that for which also I was laid hold of by Christ Jesus. Brethren, I do not regard myself as having laid hold of it yet; but one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. Let us therefore, as many as are perfect, have this attitude; and if in anything you have a different attitude, God will reveal that also to you; however, let us keep living by that same standard to which we have attained.” Philippians‬ ‭3:12-16‬ ‭

Even as the apostle Paul realized he had not yet reached the Lord’s goal for him—which was to know and reflect Jesus fully and completely (Rom 8:29, Phil 1:21; 3:8-11). Paul’s judgement about himself should help to humble us and motivate us to acknowledge that we have a long way to go.

We can’t dwell on the past—celebrating spiritual victories or mourning defeats. We must press on with the mindset that there is always more to be learned, submitted, expressed and experienced in Christ.

Keep pressing! Just a few more days to labor. For He who promised is faithful (Hebrews 10:23).

“For You are not a God who takes pleasure in wickedness; No evil dwells with You.” Psalms‬ ‭5:4‬

Many today think grace means they can sin without consequence—that God loves them and forgives them, so they can do whatever they want.

But grace never changes the way the Lord feels about sin. He hates it because it is destructive and harmful to those He loves.

“But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not carry out the desire of the flesh.” Galatians‬ ‭5:16‬

Be blessed and be a blessing. The grace of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ is sufficient and more than enough.

“So prepare your minds for action and exercise self-control. Put all your hope in the gracious salvation that will come to you when Jesus Christ is revealed to the world. So you must live as God’s obedient children. Don’t slip back into your old ways of living to satisfy your own desires. You didn’t know any better then. But now you must be holy in everything you do, just as God who chose you is holy. For the Scriptures say, “You must be holy because I Am holy.””
‭‭1 Peter‬ ‭1:13-16‬

It takes a godly, deliberate, Spirit-filled walk to honor God and glorify Him. This does not mean we adopt a gruff or grim-faced determination to do the pious, religious rituals that drain all enjoyment out of life.

Rather, we live out the holiness that Christ has given us by obeying Him and imitating His ways.

“Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart Be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord, my strength and my Redeemer.” Psalms‬ ‭19:14‬ ‭

To God be the glory!

“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge; Fools despise wisdom and instruction.” Proverbs‬ ‭1:7‬

When we base our lives on the truth of God—His holiness, power, love, wisdom, goodness, and salvation—we build on the only solid, eternal, unchanging foundation for life.

“Everyone who comes to Me and hears My words and acts on them, I will show you whom he is like: he is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid a foundation on the rock; and when a flood occurred, the torrent burst against that house and could not shake it, because it had been well built. But the one who has heard and has not acted accordingly, is like a man who built a house on the ground without any foundation; and the torrent burst against it and immediately it collapsed, and the ruin of that house was great.” Luke‬ ‭6:47-49‬ ‭
