One of the many great benefits offered through the Massachusetts Laborers Benefits Fund is Massage Therapy reimbursement.

Members with active insurance are eligible to submit a Massage Therapy reimbursement form along with the visit receipt to receive a 80% reimbursement up to $100 for each visit.

Massage Therapy Reimbursement is allowed up to 12 times a year.

The benefits office has mailed out the "Short-Hour Buy-In" letters to all eligible members who fall short in obtaining plan B health insurance coverage by 40 hours or less and members who fall short from stepping up to plan A health insurance by 40 hours or less.

If you think you are eligible for this program please keep an eye out for this letter coming from the Massachusetts Laborers Benefits Fund and get your application submitted as soon as possible as this program is time sensitive.

In addition to the AFL-CIO Scholarship Program (as seen in our previous post) there is also the Arthur E. Coia Scholarship & Education Fund

Applications for the Arthur E. Coia Scholarship & Education Fund can be found at the link below. Applications for this specific scholarship must be in by May 1, 2026

(If you are applying for the AFL-CIO scholarship the AFL-CIO Scholarship application has a much earlier deadline, which is December 19, 2025)

We are pleased to announce the Annual Massachusetts AFL-CIO Scholarship Awards Program. All graduating seniors in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts who are seeking a college degree or job training are eligible to compete. Scholarship awards this year total over half a million dollars.



If you do not have a scholarship and want to provide one, please call the office. We are available for help or advice if you may be interested in providing an award to these students as they continue their education.



Once again, exams will be online and will be given at the applicant’s high school between Monday, February 2, 2026, and Friday, February 6, 2026. All students will be taking the test at their high school and the exam proctor at each school will determine the testing date/time that is within the timeframe provided. Students can get further information by speaking with their school counselor or college and career counselor.

All applicants must register online by visiting www.massaflcio.org/scholarships and submitting their application no later than Friday, December 19, 2025. All study materials including the study guide, flash cards, and quizzes are available at www.learnlaborhistory.com.
