🚨🍦 OPERATION FREEZE PATROL: BACK TO SCHOOL BLITZ! 🍦🚨

Mark your calendars for Tuesday, August 25, 2026!

The Police Department's Operation Freeze Patrol Unit is hitting the streets for a special Back to School Blitz, bringing FREE frozen treats to residents all across the City of Methuen!

👮‍♂️🍨 Our officers will be out in full force to spread smiles, connect with families, and help the kids celebrate heading back to school.

📍 Patrol Route Stops & Times:
12:00 PM – 39 Hill Street
12:30 PM – Marsh School
1:00 PM – Mystic Street Park
1:30 PM – Gill Avenue Park
2:00 PM – Homestead Acres (by the tennis court)
2:30 PM – CGS School
3:00 PM – Veterans Park (on Milk Street)
3:30 PM – Colonial Village (by the Clubhouse)
4:00 PM – St. Lucy’s Church
4:30 PM – MHS Stadium

⏱️ Please Note:
The truck will only stay at each location for about 15–20 minutes so we can make it to every single stop. Listen for the music, come out to say hello, and grab a cool treat!

Stay cool with us this week! With the huge help from our Water Department, the City will be offering giant sprinklers at the CGS and Gill Ave Park from 10am-4pm on July 1, July 2 and July 3rd for families to enjoy!

🌡️ EXTREME HEAT ALERT – STAY COOL & STAY SAFE! 💧

High temperatures can quickly become dangerous, especially for older adults, young children, and individuals with medical conditions. Remember to:

💦 Drink plenty of water—even if you don't feel thirsty.
🏠 Visit a local cooling station if you don't have air conditioning.
👕 Wear lightweight, light-colored clothing.
☀️ Avoid strenuous activities during the hottest parts of the day.
🤝 Check on family, friends, neighbors, and anyone who may be vulnerable.

⚠️ If you or someone you know experiences signs of heat exhaustion or heat stroke—including dizziness, confusion, difficulty breathing, fainting, or loss of consciousness—call 911 immediately or go to your local emergency room.

A few simple steps can prevent heat-related illness and save lives. Stay hydrated, stay cool, and take care of one another! ❤️

📉❤️ Massachusetts opioid overdose deaths have fallen below 1,000 for the first time since 2013

While there is no single reason for this decline, one thing is clear:
💜 People are alive today because countless individuals and organizations refused to give up.

💜 Recovery coaches, treatment providers, families, law enforcement, educators, faith communities, and people in recovery have spent years showing up, one person at a time.

The number of opioid-related overdose fatalities fell below 1,000 for the first time in more than a decade in 2025, state health officials said Friday, marking a significant improvement since Massachusetts broke a devastating record a few years ago.
