For four years, the Methuen Police Department has taken action to raise awareness and support Dana-Farber Cancer Institute’s efforts to research and treat breast cancer. MPD’s Pink Patch Project has donated thousands to the cause. But this year’s October fund-raiser had extra-special meaning a...

A Special (and Adorably Exciting) Announcement from Chief Scott McNamara & the Methuen Police Department:

WE’RE EXPECTING… four paws, a wagging tail, and a whole lot of cuteness!

After a thorough and very ruff search process, we’ve finally found our newest—and certainly furriest—member of the team.

Joining Officer Kayleigh Forgetta in our ongoing commitment to Community Oriented Policing is a male English Cream Golden Retriever who is ready to bring smiles, tail wags, and comfort to our community.

There’s just one small snag: our newest “Pawficer” is reporting for duty without a name!!! That’s where you come in!

We’re asking for your best and most creative name suggestions by October 23 , 2025. You can submit ideas through our social media pages or by using the official form provided. We especially encourage students and families to team up and brainstorm something unforgettable.
LINK to submit names:

The winning name will be revealed when our pup officially comes home to Methuen. After that, Officer Forgetta will schedule a special meet‑and‑greet when “Pawciffer [Insert Name]” is big enough to charm you in person.

Until then, keep an eye on the Methuen Police Department’s page for updates on training, adventures, and upcoming events—because making this community smile is a job our newest recruit takes very seriously.

🚓💗 Methuen Police Joins the Pink Patch Project – 4th Year Strong! 💗🚓

This October, as we observe Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Pink Patch Project gives our department a meaningful way to show solidarity with those affected by breast cancer.

By wearing the pink patch and raising funds for Dana-Farber, we join a nationwide movement dedicated to early detection, education, and research, turning awareness into action and hope into tangible support for patients and their families.

All proceeds from this year's fundraising will support Dana Farber Cancer Institute. Since 2022, the Police Department has raised $13,772 for Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, a world leader in compassionate care and groundbreaking cancer research dedicated to treating and curing cancer for patients of all ages.

This year’s effort is especially meaningful as two of our own officers are both courageously fighting breast cancer under Dana-Farber’s care.

“This year, the Pink Patch Project holds an especially personal meaning for me. On April 1, 2025, I was diagnosed with breast cancer, and I’ve experienced firsthand the strength, hope, and healing that organizations like Dana-Farber provide. Wearing the pink patch is more than raising awareness, it’s a symbol of support for everyone touched by this disease and a reminder that none of us fights alone.” — Officer Gina Scanlon

"Being diagnosed with breast cancer on June 19th, 2025, was a moment that changed my life forever. Throughout my journey, I have found strength in my family, friends, and this community. With the incredible care I’m receiving at Dana-Farber, I know I’m not walking this path alone. The Pink Patch Project reminds me every day that together, we are stronger than cancer." — Officer Tracey Noonan

🙏 Thank you to Methuen’s Irish Cottage for donating the cost of our newly designed 2025 patches!

Together, let’s honor survivors, support fighters, and remember those we’ve lost. 💗

Get Ready for National Night Out 2025 !!! Tuesday, August 5, 2025, 6-8pm!

Purpose: National Night Out is a nationwide annual event. It is a community building initiative that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood relationships to make our neighborhoods safer and more caring places to live.

How does National Night Out work?
On the first Tuesday of August, between 6pm and 8pm, neighborhoods, businesses, and/or community groups get together and host small or larger events or block parties in their neighborhoods.

What is a block party?
Some host a block party with food, music and games. Others have a pot-luck cookout where neighbors bring a dish and all share in the evening together. During National Night Out, and to encourage and foster police-community partnerships, police, fire, and city officials visit block parties and engage with residents.

Why do police ask us to register our block party?
Register your event so that Police and Fire know you are hosting and we can visit with your group. Your event location will not be published on our social media pages. It is for your and your neighbors to create and plan, building relationships in the process.

What do I do now?
Knock on some neighbors’ doors, send them a text, or catch them outside and talk about National Night Out. See who may be interested in getting together on Tuesday, August 5th, 2025, between 6pm and 8pm. Gather those neighbors and come up with a plan! Then call 978-983-8635 to register your event.
