April 14th will be 3 years since Brian Jeansonne’s ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) diagnosis. The past 3 years have been a complete whirlwind. Things progressed much quicker than expected. Thankfully things are at a place where they’ve settled down. Moving forward, the Jeansonne family is working on living life to the fullest. That is why on April 14th we are asking our communities to join together to raise funds for Brian’s care and other out of pocket expenses.

As the disease progressed Brian’s needs became greater. Until his tracheostomy in October 2022 his wife Kristy and their five children handled everything. At that point Brian needed round the clock care. To help the family, part time Caregivers were hired. This is an out-of-pocket expense not covered by insurance. Caregivers are necessary for Brian’s quality of life and for his family’s as well.

Statistics show that it costs $150,000 (out of pocket) a year to keep an ALS patient healthy and thriving. The Jeansonne Family has estimated their cost to be around $110,000 a year for Brian’s care and out of pocket medical expenses. People have been very generous since April 14, 2020 and many have given to the family in multiple ways. Now is the time to pull together and help relieve the burden for this family.

I am personally reaching out to you because this family is a part of my community. I am helping them by reaching out to my community and personally asking you to join us. Our goal is that on April 14, together, we can raise a large portion of the annual expense. Our goal is to raise $80,000.

This is where YOU come in. I am asking for you to personally contact 10 people.

This is what you can ask of those 10 people.
Financially support thejeansonne7 by giving $14 (or more!) via Venmo ()(504-908-1004, Venmo likes to verify the number)
Personally ask 10 friends to also support thejeansonne7 by giving $14 (or more!) via Venmo ()(504-908-1004, Venmo likes to verify the number)

Do you see how this ripple effect could work? Asking a lot of people to contribute a little.

So, take a few minutes and look at your community. (Phone Contacts, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, TikTok and any groups that you may belong to) A personal reach out will be most effective, but the goal is to get it out to the masses.

Be love.

STILLBIRTH TAX CREDIT

Hello Community Partners,

As you may know, in 2021, Saul's Light worked with Rep. Hilferty to pass Act 467. This law went into effect in 2022, and it provides a $2000 refundable income tax credit to families who experienced a stillbirth in 2022.

For this tax season, any family that experienced a stillbirth in 2022 will be able to claim this $2000 credit on their tax return. I have attached a one pager with information on how to claim the tax credit. It would be wonderful if y'all could make a post and spread the word on your social media. And please share with your team, networks, and any family that could benefit from this!!

Thank you,
Doris Cai | Program Coordinator

This post is for someone very close to my heart and home. It was written by one of her sons. If you find it in your heart to gift them in this time of need, you can visit our website at www.twenty35npo.org. There will be a page added tomorrow with Pam's story. 💜

20:35 is a 501c3 non-profit organization.

In March 2022, our mother, Pam, fell ill with a life-threatening health condition. What began with an emergency surgery to remove a large portion of her small intestines due to a blood clot has now been diagnosed as liver failure. She will require a transplant.

From March to June, her health declined rapidly as she made frequent visits to the ER and follow up visits with her doctor. On June 27th she would take her last steps before becoming disoriented and collapsing. She is now 100% bed ridden and dependent on full time care. Since, she has split time between being cared for by a few family members and home-health professionals as well as lengthy stays at the hospital.

We were fortunate to have mom qualify for a bed at a skilled nursing facility in Gulfport. For 5 weeks, she received full time rehabilitation care and has made positive improvements. However, her time there has ended and she is limited to only upper body mobility, still unable to walk. Mom is now released and will split time between her sons’ houses where she will be cared for by a rotation of just a few family members and home-health professionals as can be afforded.

We will revisit the liver specialist on Sept. 20 to determine the next steps in her recovery. Our goal in the meantime is to continue rehabbing and nourishing (to the best of our unprofessional abilities) to regain her strength to be deemed a qualified candidate for the liver transplant.

May it be with or without a transplant, our timeline and end results are unknown. It has been an uncomfortable strain in our lives physically, mentally, and financially, but we remain positive. With mom unable to work, health care expenses continue to accumulate, therefore, drastic measures are being taken to help cover. Unfortunately, we’re afraid it will not be enough.

Our mother is nurturing, hardworking, strong, and resilient. She’s always been the first person to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Seeing her in this shape is tough to grasp, and now it’s time she’s the one being taken care of.

We all live in tough times right now and money is tighter than ever before. We’re grateful for anything you may be able to contribute. If unable to contribute monetarily, we also appreciate thoughts and prayers throughout her recovery.
