Post 307 member Scott Poynter has on display at his residence a 30 minute Patriotic Light Show to honor our Veterans. It is located at 101 Sauve Rd, River Ridge 70123. A video can be viewed at lights on sauve or check out Facebook book or you can go to Post 307 on our website and click on the Facebook symbol (F). Best view is a full screen.

REMINDER OF THE VETERANS PARADE ON NOVEMBER 9, 2024.
OPENING CEREMONY STARTS AT 10:00 AM AT THE KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS ST. LOCATED ON VICKSBURG AND HARRISON.

OPENING CEREMONY STARTS AT 10:00 a.m. AND THE PARADE STARTS AT 11:00 AND SHOULD BE OVER BY NOON.

The United States Marine Corps Reserve Forces Band will lead the way, followed by our Honorary Grand Marshal, Mr. Ellis Johnson, USMC, Military Order of the Purple Heart.

Participants are the Patriot Guard Riders, American Legion Posts 307 and 350 and VFW Post 8973, a host of Veterans marching and riding in convertibles, antique cars, and Jeeps.

The Victory Belles from the National World War 2 Museum will be in the parade riding in Jefferson Parish Sheriff Joe Lopinto's White Ford Bronco. Orleans Parish Sheriff Susan Huston and her father, Celia Hutson--a Veteran--will in the parade. Several Veterans support organizations will participate as well...including the VA. The Streetcar Strutters will march alongside our Veterans. And there will be Girl Scouts, Tiger Scouts, Cub Scouts, Webeloes, and Boy Scouts marching and/or riding alongside our Veterans and carrying our banners.

2024-10-26. National Day of the Deployed,

Since 2012, October 26 has been recognized by all 50 states as the National Day of the Deployed, a day dedicated to honoring those past and present who have been deployed throughout the world in U.S. military service. The day also acknowledges the sacrifices that military spouses and family make during deployment.
The first-ever Day of the Deployed was observed in 2006 when North Dakota announced a proclamation for the day, thanks to the efforts of Shelle Michaeles Aberle, who petitioned Governor John Hoevento with the idea. October 26 was chosen for the date in honor of Shelle’s cousin, who had been deployed to Iraq and who celebrated his birthday on that date. Six years later, every state was observing National Day of the Deployed with their own proclamations and other recognitions.
This year, the U.S. Senate unanimously adopted S. Res. 881, resolving that the Senate 1) designate October 26, 2024 as the “Day of the Deployed,” 2) honor the deployed members of the Armed Forces and their families, 3) call on the people of the United States to reflect on the service of those members of the Armed Forces, wherever the members serve, past, present, and future, and 4) encourage the people of the United States to observe the “Day of the Deployed” with appropriate ceremonies and activities.

November 16th at 10 AM (Saturday Morning) Washington Artillery Wreath Ceremony, the famed Battalion Washington Artillery will lay a wreath at its monument in Metairie Cemetery. The event will be held on Saturday, November 16th, 2024, at Metairie Cemetery. The program will begin sharply at 10 AM and will be followed by a short reception at Metairie Cemetery’s Reception Hall. The uniform will be business attire (coat and tie). There will be signs posted for directions to the Washington Artillery Monument. Post 307 is invited to attend.

October 24,2024 (Thursday).
Post General Membership Meeting at Deutsches Haus,1700 Moss Street, New Orleans, La. 70119. A meal and refreshments are served at 5:00 p.m. and at 6:00 p.m. the meeting will start.
Please note Gary Fank will be collecting dues for 2025. DUES ARE $50.00.

November 9, 2024 (Saturday morning).
Veterans Parade, starting at the Knights of Columbus, St. Dominick Council. Location Vicksburg near Harrison Blvd. Doors open 10:00 a.m., Veterans Parade starts 11:00 a.m. This is a Blue Cap event.
