The Exellence in Historic Preservation Award was presented to Lyndon Saia on January 10, 2026, by Francois deLery Chapter Regent Christyn Elliott. During the past few years, Mr. Saia has lovingly restored the historic "Old Spanish Customs House" on Bayou St. John, which was constructed by 1784, or possibly even earlier. He graciously welcomed the chapter into his beautiful home, and provided a wealth of information about the home's importance to the history of New Orleans.
Congratulations!

The Louisiana Society Daughters of the American Revolution Southeast District celebrated Constitution Day, September 17, 2025, with a presentation and bell-ringing (quietly) at the East Bank Regional Library in Metairie.
Christyn Raby Elliott, Regent of the Francois deLery Chapter, which hosted the event, spoke on the exhibit at Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art called, "We the People: The Radical Notion of Democracy." The exhibit featured the copy of the U.S. Constitution purchased in 2021, by billionaire Kenneth C. Griffin for over $41 million dollars, which was on loan to the museum. The first edition print is one of only thirteen known in the world, of the original 500 copies printed for distribution in 1787.

St. Dominic's Knights of Columbus, in Lakeview, hosted its annual Flag Day celebration on Saturday, June 14th.
Of the eight Southeast District DAR chapters, this year the Francois de Lery Chapter represented the DAR, and presented remarks about the history of the U.S. flag, emphasizing the flag in place when Louisiana became a state in 1812. It was the same 15 stripe and 15 star version of the flag as the famous Star Spangled Banner, which flew over Fort McHenry in Baltimore in 1814, when Francis Scott Key penned the lyrics for our national anthem.
Members of Francois de Lery and Oliver Po***ck chapters were in attendance.
