Subject: GTA Clothing Drive — We Need You! 🇬🇲

Dear Members and Friends of the Gambian Texas Association,

We hope this message finds you well. We are reaching out with an exciting and meaningful opportunity to give back to our homeland.

THE GTA CLOTHING DRIVE IS BACK!!!

Many of you may remember the boxes — dozens of them, filled with gently used clothing collected from our very own community here in Texas, and shipped all the way to The Gambia to help flood victims in their time of need. That effort was a testament to the generosity and unity of our community.

We are proud to announce that we are embarking on a new clothing drive — and our goal is to make it even bigger this time.

HOW YOU CAN HELP

We are collecting gently used, clean clothing for men, women, and children of all ages and sizes. If it's in good condition and you no longer need it, someone back home will treasure it.

This year, the drop-off will take place at our very own Annual Mother's Day Family Picnic:

📅 Sunday, May 10th

What a beautiful way to combine celebration with giving back! Bring your donations to the picnic, enjoy the day with family and friends, and know that what your drop off will make a real difference back home.

WHY IT MATTERS

There are families in The Gambia who face hardship every day with very little. A simple item of clothing — something that may have been sitting unused in your closet or garage — can provide real dignity and warmth to a person in need. Together, our small acts of generosity become something truly powerful.

We encourage you to:
• Sort through your closets and set items aside now
• Share this message with other Gambians in your network
• Volunteer if you'd like to help coordinate collections

Dear GTA Family,

On behalf of the leadership, I want to extend my sincere thanks for your incredible support. Your cash donations, merchandise purchases, and ticket sales for the Sunday events were vital to our success.
We especially appreciate your patience and resilience during the bad weather. While it was beyond our control, your positive spirit reminded us what makes our community truly special. We hear your disappointment about Jay O’Jay and DJ Edu's canceled performances and apologize that you didn't get to see them. We plan to bring them back for a future event.

Finally, to our soccer teams, we felt your disappointment deeply. We are grateful to Dallas Gambia, Tyler Gambia, Senegal Houston, and Nigeria for remaining in the tournament and donating half of their registration fees to a cause greater than the game itself.
