🦃🐶 ATTENTION, THANKSGIVING HUMANS:
Your dog would like to make a formal announcement:

“I am absolutely capable of eating an entire turkey, a stick of butter, and half the dessert table.
I am NOT capable of digesting any of that.”

So before you let those puppy eyes scam you into a gastrointestinal disaster, here’s your friendly reminder:

🍗 YES: Plain turkey, sweet potato, green beans.
🧄 NO: Turkey bones, garlic, onions, stuffing, pie, or “just one little bite” of anything sketchy.
🍞 MAYBE: Bread — but only if you want to live with the consequences later.

And for the love of gravy,
do not let Aunt Linda feed the dog.
Aunt Linda’s love has no limits and your vet bill cannot handle her enthusiasm.

Keep it safe, keep it simple, keep the dog from exploding.

My name is Gunther and I need a friend

I need a friend because I’m down and starting to feel scared that I’ll never leave this place. I don’t know how I ended up here. They named me Gunther and the name means warrior. I have some scars on me which is probably why they named me this. I’m not a fighter, I’m a lover who needs a friend, I don’t have any and it seems like nobody wants me. I just want a friend, I promise I’ll be good.

I’m goofy, playful, energetic and I love snacks, lots of snacks. I will sit for them and give you my goofy smile. I challenge anyone to watch me beg for a treat and not put a smile on your face and make you feel happy inside. I would love to show you over and over again how I sit and beg. I have it mastered and I like to see people smile.

So nobody’s come looking for me because if they had called I would come running. People can be so mean and so cold. I just want to be someone’s friend. My name is Gunther ID 56883771 3 year old, 68lb American Terrier Pitbull who has been at the Mesquite animal shelter since 9/13/24
If you let me I will be your friend until the end. I’m all you’d ever need and
I will love you and make you happy and smiley and warm inside.

I pledge $100 to reputable rescue. Must be 501. Thank you 🙏 Tory from mas for saving this guy. I hope he has owners but if not- he is super adoptable!!!!!!

My heart and thoughts are with the people and animals impacted by the California wildfires. The animal welfare community in California is strong and resilient. The state disaster plan considers that animals are an important part of families and communities. BPF’s Animal Incident Management™ team Executive Director Eric Thompson is monitoring the situation and collaborating with other national organizations on the next steps. When California requests support, we will be ready.

Partners, friends and donors have contacted me asking what they can do to help. Pasadena Humane is fielding the immediate response. They have taken in over 300 animals from the disaster zone and their veterinary clinic is running 24/7. The biggest need right now is to support them with monetary donations so they can continue their response. When you make your donation, let them know that is for disaster response. In-kind donations, unless specifically requested, are difficult to manage during a disaster of any kind.
