MISSION: Facilitate a program to recognize our “Workplace Heroes” who work tirelessly behind the scenes to support the essential work of small businesses and nonprofits throughout the state of Texas. We have recognized our healthcare workers, our police and firemen, elected officials, our Postal Service, and others who toil in sectors demanding they face and serve the public on an ongoing basis in
the midst of a deadly pandemic. There is, however, one group we have not recognized; those essential workers who perform behind the scenes, unseen or noticed, working at jobs, often at minimum wage, to support our institutions, businesses, and nonprofits. Those who disinfect buildings at night, toil in kitchens, pick up garbage, work in nursing homes, and in many other facilities and in many other ways serve as a backbone for our communities. Those are the workers Grant Fairy proposes to recognize, by creating awareness of the essential work they do, and to positively impact retention and employee morale, particularly at our local small businesses and nonprofits
