Thank you to everyone who joined us tonight for the MEA Banquet! What an incredible evening celebrating our school board, educators, and the impact we make together every single day.

A special thank you to our guest speaker, Dr. Terry Riley, for such an inspiring message. You truly challenged us to reflect on how we can be the shining light in the lives of others, and that’s a message we will carry with us far beyond tonight.

We are so grateful for each of you who showed up, supported our scholarship fund, and helped make this event so special. 💙💛

MEA Spotlight | Team NBCT Week

Meet Vicky Sanz Ramirez, 4th-grade Bilingual Teacher at Galloway Elementary School and a proud National Board Certified Teacher, certified in English as a New Language/Early and Middle Childhood.

Vicky shared, "I chose to pursue National Board Certification because I wanted to become a better teacher for my students. When I learned about NBCT through ETIP, I was drawn to a process created by teachers who truly understand the realities of the classroom. While challenging, the experience was incredibly rewarding and pushed me to reflect deeply on my practice."

She also said, "Becoming a National Board Certified Teacher has changed how I approach teaching. The process reinforced the importance of truly knowing my students (their strengths, needs, and goals) and using that understanding to guide instruction. Reflection is now central to my practice, helping me make thoughtful decisions that better support student learning."

👏 Thank you, Vicky, for your dedication to excellence and for elevating education in Mesquite ISD. MEA is proud to spotlight your work!

MEA Spotlight | Team NBCT Week

Meet Dani Boepple, President of the Mesquite Education Association and a proud National Board Certified Teacher, certified in Science/Early Adolescence.

Dani shared, "I pursued National Board Certification because I wanted to push myself professionally and ensure my instructional practices truly met the needs of every student. The process challenged me to be deeply reflective, intentional, and student-centered in everything I do."

She also said, "Becoming National Board Certified has strengthened my teaching by sharpening my focus on evidence-based strategies, meaningful assessment, and authentic learning experiences. In my 8th-grade CTE high school credit courses at McDonald Middle School, Principles of Human Services and Principles of Education & Training, I’ve seen students become more engaged, confident, and empowered as learners because instruction is purposefully designed around their growth."

National Board Certification represents a commitment to excellence, continuous growth, and student success, and Dani exemplifies that commitment both in the classroom and through her leadership with MEA.

MEA Spotlight | Team NBCT Week

We are proud to recognize Lacy Brown, National Board Certified Teacher from West Mesquite High School, certified in Music: Early Adolescence through Young Adulthood.

Lacy shared, "I chose to pursue National Board Certification as an opportunity to step outside my comfort zone and challenge myself to further develop a truly student-centered learning environment. I wanted to reflect deeply on my practice and explore new strategies that would make learning more meaningful and relevant for my students. The National Board process pushed me to be more intentional in my planning and more reflective about how my instructional choices impact student growth."

She also said, "Through the process, I learned how to design lessons that promote student ownership and accountability, including more frequent assessments and purposeful self-assessment opportunities. These strategies have helped students better identify their strengths and areas for growth. I see the impact daily across all levels—from sixth-grade beginning band students to seniors in Wind Symphony—as students actively listen to one another and collaboratively address articulation, pitch, and musicality. They have become more critical and thoughtful listeners, a skill that will benefit them not only as musicians but throughout their lives."

👏 Thank you, Lacy, for your dedication to excellence and for elevating music education in Mesquite ISD. Lacy is not only shaping strong musicians but also equipping students with skills that will benefit them for a lifetime. MEA is proud to spotlight your work!
