AAMHO is again featured in an article in Luminaria, nice long article by Yana Kunichoff. Plow through to the end to hear Al Retherford's and my comments.

Dyan Norfleet had to dip into her savings to pay her August bill at Twin Palms, a north side Tucson mobile home park. The total bill was more than $900, including $171 in electricity costs — the month before she had paid $777.21 for lot rent, house rent and utilities, according to bills shared wit...

AAMHO and other organizations around AZ have received multiple calls from Park homeowners whose water readings, both from defective meters or new smart meters, have charged them for many thousands of gallons of water per month more than they generally use. Whether the mistake is in the meter itself or in the recording of the information, this results in an unusually large bill for the homeowner.

The only way to protect yourself from these unfair overcharges is to be able to document the reading on your water meter. If your meter is fairly easy to read, I urge you to keep records of water, meter readings several times each month, preferably on the same days, and especially around the time that your meter is generally read. If you have this documentation, you can show it to your Park office and avoid the overcharge. Make sure you take a photo of the reading as well as record the numbers or they may not accept it as correct documentation. We have had cases of people being charged as much $1800 a month for water that they did not get or used. This is crazy!

PS And keep digital or paper records of your utility bills ALWAYS! Remember all those copies you sent to AAMHO? We are now using your information (personal info redacted) to prepare legislation and prove the need for it! THANK YOU!

Having issues signing up for the AAMHO Monthly membership option? I just noticed that when you log in to "My Profile", you need to click on "Edit" in order to be able to change your AAMHO membership level from whatever it was before to the monthly $3.50 option. There is a drop-down menu under "Membership Level" and you can choose "Monthly Option". Still confused/ Call me and i will talk you through it! (480)966-9566. AAMHO

When Robert Meade noticed a storm had blown a number of shingles off the roof of his four-room manufactured home several years ago, his heart sank. Meade, who is in his 80s, didn’t know how they would fix the roof until his granddaughter told him she had found a county program that would help.  ....

Vote in Arizona? If you do, here is a website that is for "all things voting": beballotready.vote. Here you can check your registration, sign up for text alerts (LOVE these!) and change your address or contact info. Questions about your registration or voting? Call Matt Roberts at the MC Recorder's office if you live in Maricopa County at (602)372-9209 or your own county recorder.

The reason I am telling you this is that many Arizona voters received a disturbing letter recently saying that they "heard from the AZ Department of Transportation MVD that you may have moved." It seems to go on to say that they have trouble with their voter registration. This poorly-written letter is confusing many voters and will be rewritten for the next voting cycle to say something like, "IF you have moved, please change your address to your new one so that you don't have any issues voting in this next election. If you have not moved, ignore this letter."

I am attaching my husband's redacted letter so you can see what I am talking about. The MC Recorder's Office is being swamped with concerned voters calling in!
