Meet Steffi, our 13-year-old "Bossy Betty" who is ready to rule your heart (and your couch)! 🐾❤️
This resilient little gal has been through a whirlwind over the last few months. Her life-long human went into hospice and passed away, sending her into rescue. Soon after, she needed major surgery for severe kidney stones, followed by a dental procedure where she lost the last of her remaining teeth. Then, just a little over a week ago, her bonded best buddy Buffy sadly passed away from heart failure. 💔
Despite so much heartbreak and physical healing, Steffi’s spicy, lovable spirit is unbroken. She may be toothless and a senior, but she still firmly "lays down the law" with the other dogs, tells you exactly when it's mealtime, and demands her rightful pets! She has recovered beautifully from all her trials and is officially looking for her happily ever after.
Steffi has so much love left to give. All she needs now is a soft sofa, a warm lap, and a family to call her own. 🛋️✨
Could you be Steffi's perfect match? Please consider adopting or sharing her story!

Meet Malcolm, a handsome 2-year-old cutie who is officially ready to find his forever family! 🐾✨
Malcolm is a bit of a shy little dude who hasn’t completely come into his own yet, but beneath that quiet exterior is a total sweetheart waiting to blossom. He absolutely loves treats and toys—in fact, he is a certified master at disemboweling the squeaker from any plush toy in mere seconds! 🧸💥
We are currently working with him on his social skills and manners, and he is trying so hard to learn. We truly believe this resilient boy just needs a patient, loving person who will give him the time and space he needs to fully bring him out of his shell. Once he knows he is safe, his true personality is going to shine so bright. 🌟
He is doggy door trained, but needs work on leash. He is a talker! If you have a little patience and a lot of love to give, Malcolm might just be your perfect match. Please consider adopting or sharing his story to help him find the soft place to land that he deserves! ❤️

Please Welcome Jolene to AZCR.❤️

Good morning, Rescue Partners,

"Jolene, Jolene, Jolene, Joleeenne!" This gal may not have flaming locks of Auburn hair, but she is just as captivating! Jolene here is in search of rescue due to medical concerns. I have attached her medical history for you all to review. Please let us know as soon as possible if you are interested in giving this older gal a smile like a breath of spring!

Note-Jolene will be on the rescue portal until end of day 10/7, so please let us know before then if you can help.

MEDICAL
Jolene weighs around 7lbs. This sweet older gal is in need of a dental. She has numerous teeth missing, causing her tongue to hang out of the side of her mouth. Her remaining teeth have severe tartar buildup. She had some bloodwork done in shelter, which revealed mild hyperglobulinemia, and mild elevation of ALP. These abnormalities may require further work up. Our medical team intends to perform a repeat complete blood count and T4, which is pending. Given her age, she would benefit from a quieter, cozier place outside of a shelter environment for recovery. We are hoping this sweet old lady can go to a rescue that will be able to pamper her and make her more comfortable!

BEHAVIOR
Jolene has allowed most handling while in shelter. She was a bit sensitive with her oral exam, but otherwise is a sweetheart.

THIS PET CAME TO THE SHELTER AS A
Stray. Jolene will be on the rescue portal until end of day 10/8.

Thank you,
Veronica Soto

💙 We are so grateful for PACC911! 🐾
Phoenix Animal Care Coalition (PACC911) is such an important resource for Arizona rescues, including AZCR. They help us with the medical expenses that can come with taking in dogs who need more than routine care — and those grants can make a HUGE difference in our ability to say yes to a dog in need.
PACC911 is currently holding their Win Big, Save Lives raffle, and your ticket helps support PACC911's Critical Care Fund, which helps rescues cover emergency and lifesaving medical care for animals in need. This is a fun a great way to support Arizona rescues, including AZCR!

🐾 PACC911 is featured in Trends Magazine!

Check us out on page 34 and learn more about how your support helps us continue providing critical care and second chances to animals in need. ❤️

A big thank you to for helping us spread the word about our mission!

💕 Meet Mimi! 💕

8 years old • 7 lbs • White Chihuahua • Spayed • Microchipped • Vaccinated

Hi, I’m Mimi, a petite 7-pound Chihuahua with a BIG heart! 🐾💗

I’m a sweet, gentle girl who can be a little shy when I first meet you, but once I know I’m safe, I’ll happily become your little shadow. I especially love having one-on-one time with my person—that’s when I really shine!

My life recently changed when my beloved owner passed away. My other owner was unable to continue caring for me because of his own health issues, so I found my way to rescue. I’ve lived with other dogs and am currently enjoying life with several small doggy friends. I get along with them just fine, but I think I’d be happiest in a home where I can get lots of attention from my special person. I could be perfectly happy as your one and only, or I’d also do well with one or two other small, friendly dogs.

Because I’m used to having my person around, I can experience a little separation anxiety, especially when I first arrive in a new home. For that reason, I’d love a home with someone who is retired, works from home, or otherwise spends lots of time with their furry companion. With patience, reassurance, and a little time to settle in, I’m sure I’ll feel right at home. ❤️

I do enjoy going for walks, and I’m always happy to explore the world at my own little Chihuahua pace. 🐕🌸

I recently had a dental and had a few teeth removed, but that’s all behind me now and I’m feeling great and ready to find my forever family!

I'm a little shy, very sweet, and looking for someone who will love me as much as I’ll love them. If you’re looking for a tiny companion who wants to be your loyal little sidekick, I just might be your girl! 🥰

Mimi is ready for her happily-ever-after. Could it be with you? 💕🐾

If you think you are meant to be my human, please complete this application with me..Mimi in the top section.
