Meet Mocha! She’s 11 years old and 6.9lbs. She is a shy, quiet girl who’s looking for love!

Mocha is all good! She is very dependent on her kennel right now; it’s her safe spot and will require a kennel in her new home at least to start. She would love a home where she could spend time outside or go for short walks. Also, a family with a lot of at home time so she can learn to be out of her kennel would be ideal. She is timid around other dogs but seems fine with their company. After she gets over being shy, she is friendly with people and likes kids. She is very playful for her age and loves to steal things from around the house and hide them in her kennel. She will require some follow-up medical care. Please contact Liesl (602.369.4021) if you are interested in adopting.

k9 did not eat overnight food.

5/20/2026
Handler approached kennel, called dog softly. Dog stood from bed, stretched, came to front of kennel with wagging tail. Eagerly accepted treats through gate. Handler put treat bag away; dog began growling, lip curling. Handler attempted to coax dog, dog remained tense, continued to low growl while flashing teeth.

Did not eat

Dog was at front of kennel, trembling, slight tension in body. Briefly wagged tail when coaxed, eagerly accepted treats. Handler opened gate, dog remained at front. Took a few steps back when handler neutrally presented leash. Handler slowly moved leash towards dog; dog began growling, baring teeth. Handler withdrew, coaxed dog. Dog remained tense, lip licking. Handler attempted to slowly leash again; dog lunged up, biting at leash, growling. Retreated to opposite kennel side. Handler closed divider, opened opposite gate. Dog was in back of kennel, growling. Handler cast leash gently; leash landed on dog, dog began thrashing, crying out; ducked out of leash. Handler withdrew, made final attempt and was able to get leash on dog with gentle lasso. Dog thrashed and pawed at leash, growling, air snapping. Settled after a moment. Handler stood at kennel, speaking softly, coaxing dog. Applied safety gloves as precaution. Dog slowly came to front of kennel. Accepted treats from hand. Tolerated brief gentle petting on top of head, remained tense. Handler spent a few minutes repeating this behavior, giving dog time to settle. Handler draped blanket over dog; dog bared teeth but no further reaction. Handler petted dog over blanket, then lifted and carried out to M&G room without issue. Set dog down on blanket. Dog was trembling, lip licking, but approached handler when called. Allowed petting and accepted treats. Leaned in for petting at base of tail. Did not fully relax; stayed near handler. Occasionally tensed when being petted but did not move away or otherwise react. Handler began petting dog as if readying to lift; dog became stiff, lip licked, backed away. Handler used blanket for dog's comfort, lifted and carried back to kennel. Slowly removed leash by hand before returning.

Soft wiggly body, took treats nicely

5/14/2026
Handler approached dog to take out for a m&g. Intially dog aprroached handler coming up to the front of the kennel and smelling. Once handler opened kennel dog started getting more timid licking lips and side eyeing. Handler tried to coax dog with treats and soft talk before trying to leash. Dog seemed more calm until Handler brought out leash and allowed dog to smell. Once dog smelled he started to scrunch up nose a show a little teeth, and once handler tried to leash, dog air snapped and je**ed back and started baring teeth and growling. Handler stepped away and proceed to close kennel and put lock and dog was just at the front of the kennel growling and baring teeth. Handler left dog inside kennel and cancelled m&g due to behavior. A few minutes after, two fellow team members approached normally and dog was fine with them until a leash was shown, after that dog was back to baring teeth and growling and would not settle.

5/13/2026
Laying on bed, tense body, ears to side, opened door, unable to coax through divider for AM cleaning, sniffed presented hand, allowed head petting, able to slowly pick up and place in other side of kennel; once cleaning was complete dog stayed at front of kennel, whining, ears forward, neutral body, tail wagged when handler approached, door opened, mild evasion of leash but overall easy to leash, easy to pick up and carry outside for potty break, placed on ground, tense body, explored ground, walked down the path a few feet on leash beside handler, handler able to crouch and call dog over, allowed all petting, seemed to be wary of large dogs barking (watching large dogs, occasionally flinching when dogs barked, started trembling), easy to pick up, loosened once inside, easy to carry to kennel, allowed leash removal by hand, stayed at front of kennel with neutral body when handler left. **GO SLOW based nervous and sensitivity behaviors noted in intake assessment and intake memo **Placing NO CHILDREN requirement based on handling sensitivity noted in intake memo

5/11/2026
Whipped head at handlers hand, blanket to pick up, tail tucked, wide eyed, thrashed during restraint for vaccines, carried to kennel.

Marley is the dog of the day! He's an old guy, about 16 years old. He will need a very special home that can help him live out his golden years. He is deaf and mostly blind and needs a consistent routine. He is very food motivated and knows exactly when it's time to eat! He's just looking for a home to eat, sleep, and stay healthy.
