We were thrilled to be able to perform for 10 different Mesa elementary Title 1 schools and give each school a check for $2,000. We could not do this without the generosity of our orchestra members and our wonderful patrons!

All the members of the East Valley Pops Orchestra thank our wonderful patrons who attended our first Holiday Concert at St. Mark's church. As you can see from the photos, it was standing room only! We want to give a big shout out to all the amazing folks from Good Life RV Resort who came in droves to this concert! As a result of the generosity of all these wonderful folks, we added over $4,300 to our Richey fund which goes to schools and programs that serve low-income families to support band and orchestra programs. A big thank you also goes to photographer extraordinaire Martin Konopacki for all these beautiful photos.

Having trouble getting into the "holiday spirit?" Here's a simple solution: Come to the premiere holiday concert presented by the East Valley Pops Orchestra as we open our season at St. Mark's Church in Mesa on Dec. 2 at 7:00. You'll hear sacred favorites like "Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring" and "Silent Night" and fun popular tunes like "Silver Bells" and music from the movie "How the Grinch Stole Christmas." No ticket is required - free admission! A freewill offering will be taken to benefit our fund that supports band and orchestra students in low income schools. And if you arrive early, you can socialize with your friends while sipping on a cup of coffee or glass of wine which will be sold by the church. If you can't make our first concert, we have two more performances open to the public on Dec. 6 & 8. Check out our website at www.eastvalleypops.org/calendar for full details.

We performed for a second time last week for students in the Chandler school district. We were thrilled to be performing at the Chandler Center for the Arts, and we performed for an audience of well over 1,000! We were amazed to see Darth Vader and the Pink Panther both show up and give the students a thrill. The students that came up to answer musical questions and "win" money for their school did a great job and we were able to give $1,700 to six different Chandler Title I elementary schools to benefit their music programs and also $500 to the Chandler High School Orchestra, who helped with crowd control and set up. A special thanks goes to Martin Konopacki for these most excellent photos from the day of the concert! And, as always, a big thank you to all our generous donors who make this all possible. We're "playing it forward" to young musicians!

We are excited to have been invited back to Victory Lutheran Church this coming Sunday, February 16th at 3:00 pm. The concert is free and open to the public - a goodwill offering will be taken. We have a wide variety of music we're performing this season, from Broadway and movie favorites to classical giants such as Bizet and Beethoven. We'll even throw in a waltz and a fiddle tune. A little something for everyone! Hope to see you there!
