It is with great honor and humility to represent such a great dental school, A.T Still University, at the annual ADEA conference this year. Both Laura Betancur (D2) and I, Dalena Ha (D2) got to attend the SDLP sessions to learn about diversity and its importance in the community.

We brought home 2 awards for ASDOH’s ADEA club including the gold level distinguished chapter award and the award for outstanding ADEA chapter in innovation. We would like to thank our dean, Dr. Trombly, ADEA advisor, Dr. Howell, ADEA chair, Dr. Chang, and ASDOH faculty and students for all of their support.

I am so honored to share that I was elected as the secretary for the ADEA COSRF national executive board. I look forward to expanding our local chapter and representing the voices of all dental students nationally.

This semester, we are proud to be working with Phoenix College's EFDA (Expanded Functions Dental Auxiliary) Program again!

In Arizona, dental assistants and hygienists can earn their EFDA certification that enables them to place restorations after a dentist has prepared the tooth.
Phoenix College is looking for ASDOH dental student volunteers to help during their Saturday Sim Lab sessions to give pointers to EFDA students. If you are interested in teaching, learning about EFDAs, or would like to build more local connections, this is a great opportunity!

Currently, their lab sessions available for volunteering are Saturdays March 5, 12, 26 and April 2, 9, 16, 23. If you are interested in signing up, please fill out the Google form linked in an email sent to your ATSU email. Exact times and shifts are available in the Google Form.

Please note that this volunteering opportunity will be at the Phoenix College Healthcare Building (3144 N 7th Ave, Phoenix, AZ 85013).

Important: Only students who have passed their restoration preclinical competencies may volunteer.

As a part of our efforts to creating a healthier environment at ASDOH, ADEA has launched a climate survey for all affiliated dental schools to complete. This survey is completely confidential and anonymous. This data will help us understand your perceptions and opinions on ASDOH’s diversity and inclusion within our environment. All ASDOH students are welcome to attend ADEA's first General Body Meeting Thursday July 29 at noon in JJLC!

We will be introducing ourselves and our organization for the new year. We will also be featuring our very own Dr. Scott Howell, who will be giving a talk on how to plan for loan forgiveness.
