Today and every day, we’re grateful for the incredible children and youth who walk through our doors, the caregivers who trust us with them, and the volunteers and supporters who make our work possible. 🧡

Because of you, at-risk children and youth have a safe place to learn, grow, and thrive—where homework gets done, skills are built, meals are shared, and futures start to look a little brighter.

From all of us at Jacob’s Mission Community Center, we wish you a warm, safe, and hope-filled Happy Thanksgiving. 🦃🍁

🌟 It Takes a Village! 🌟

Since June, youth have been meeting at Jacob’s Mission Community Center to share their lived experiences and provide real solutions to improve Arizona’s child welfare system.

Last night, thirty incredible youth presented six legislative solutions to Representative Lisa Fink, Representative Walt Blackman, Representative Khyl Powell, and Senator Dave Farnsworth, with the hope that even one idea might be sponsored.

💙 last night, these youth walked away with hope — all six of their solutions will be drafted and sponsored!

There’s no greater feeling than empowering youth to use their voice — to show them that they matter, that their experiences can drive change, and that they can make life better for future generations.

We’re also honored that ABC15 Arizona reached out to cover the story after hearing about the youth who toured the Arizona Capitol during fall break to learn how committees work and how to address legislators.

✨ Nearly ten years ago, in October 2015, we first became legislatively involved, never imagining it would lead to this moment. I’m so grateful to God for using us to be a voice for others and for allowing us to witness these young leaders rise up to change the system from within.

🌟 Happening Today! 🌟

Tonight, 30 youth from across Arizona will gather for the Congregate Care Coalition at Jacob’s Mission Community Center to share real solutions and demand change that saves lives.

We come together in memory of Emily Pike (14), Zariah Dodd (16), Anaiah Walker (16), Damien Wilson (15), James Zoccoli (16), Sitlalli Avelar (17), and Kamryn Meyers (15) — precious lives lost after running away from foster group homes. Their stories fuel our fight to ensure no more youth are forgotten. 💔

🗓️ Today | 6–7:30 PM
📍 Jacob’s Mission Community Center – 7830 E. University Dr., Mesa

We are honored to have Representative Walt Blackman, Representative Lisa Fink and Representative Khyl Powell joining us to hear directly from youth as they identify causes, provide solutions, and shape life-saving legislation.

Their voices matter. Their ideas matter. Their lives matter.

Together, they are writing a different ending.

🎉 You’re Invited! Will You Help Us Build Hope?

Hey friends! 💛
Have you been looking for a meaningful way to give and get something amazing in return?

We’d love for you to use your Foster Care Tax Credit to join us at this year’s Foster Love Gala — a powerful night filled with purpose, connection, and inspiration.

✨ Why attend?
• It’s a chance to dress up, enjoy a delASA Nowmeal, and spend the evening with people who care as deeply as you do.
• You’ll witness stories of resilience and hope from those who’ve lived the foster care journey.
• And this year, your presence helps us build a new 24/7 Giving Closet — a secure, climate-controlled space where children in crisis can access clothing, shoes, backpacks, hygiene items, and dignity.

We’re aiming to raise $200,000 to construct the shell of the building (permits, water, electricity, foundation, framing, etc.). Once it’s up, we’ll rally the community to help with insulation, paint, flooring, and shelving.

🧊 Right now, we’re operating out of three old metal storage pods — dark, hot, and exposed. We even had $28,000 worth of new items stolen recently. That heartbreak sparked a bold vision. 💡

Together, we can build something better. For them.

🎶 This year’s gala will feature a special performance by McKenna Breinholt, who was herself adopted, as well as our beloved Jacob’s Mission Children’s Choir — voices rising from hardship into hope.

Can you help me sell two tables this week?

Each table seats 8. Sponsorships start at $1,200 — the exact amount of the Arizona foster care tax credit (a dollar-for-dollar credit on your taxes).
Higher levels include:
• Recognition in marketing materials
• Event signage & sponsor plaques
• VIP access to meet McKenna
• And our top sponsor will be invited to speak on stage!

If a table isn’t in the cards, we’d be so grateful if you could share this post or invite a friend to attend.

💸 Remember: this is not a donation — it’s a redirect of your taxes to help kids who need us most.

Let’s get this event SOLD OUT by next week! 🎉

🎤 We’re growing the Jacob’s Mission Children’s Choir and need 10 more youth to fill our 30-member stage! Caregivers told us weeknights are tough—so we’ve added new rehearsal days to make joining easy. No choir experience needed.

Who can join?
Youth ages 5–21 who are or have been in foster care, kinship/guardianship, group homes, foster-adoptive homes, or who’ve aged out. (All youth in the home are welcome.)

New & expanded rehearsal options (choose what fits):
• Sundays 2–3 PM — new for busy caregivers; starts Sun, Sept 14
• Tuesdays 6:00–6:45 PM — ongoing through our after-school program
• Wednesdays 6:00–6:30 PM — starts Oct 22
📍 Jacob’s Mission Community Center — 7830 E University Dr, Mesa, AZ

Why join?
• Sing alongside American Idol Top 7, McKenna Faith Breinholt who is from Gilbert, AZ!
• Build confidence, community, and creativity in a trauma-informed space
• Take the stage at our Nov 14, 2025 Gala Superstition Manor Wedding and Event Center 🌟

Why the Gala matters (for families & donors):

ASA Now is raising $200,000 to build an air-conditioned Jacob’s Mission Giving Closet—a safe, dignified, 24/7 space stocked with immediate-needs essentials for kids entering foster care.

Since 2018, we’ve made do with 40-ft storage pods—hot and dark—yet filled with hope. In spring 2024, thieves stole $28,000 in brand-new items meant for children. Out of that loss came a better plan: a permanent, climate-controlled Giving Closet so caregivers can get what kids need any time, day or night. Your gift helps open those doors.

🎥 See the joy from last year’s show (with Alex Boyé)—on our website! Then imagine YOUR youth on stage this year with Mckenna Breinholt.
