Healing can come in many forms. Sometimes, it comes through music. 🎶💛

Throughout her cancer journey, 2026 Children's Miracle Network Champion Child LeAnne found connection, comfort and calmness through music therapy at Sophie's Place.

This Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, hear LeAnne share how music impacted her life during treatment and why spaces like Sophie’s Place are so meaningful for kids receiving care at Renown Children's Hospital.

We’re proud to invest in healing arts that support the whole child, not just their diagnosis. 💛

And on Saturday, Sept.19, the Biggest Little Classic Golf Tournament will be hitting the course to raise funds in support of Sophie’s Place and our music therapy programs. Every three minutes a family in the world learns the earth-shattering news that their child has cancer and this makes it hard not to know at least someone affected by that news.
However, music therapy is here to help!

Music therapists can help these patients, families and loved ones, and even healthcare staff to cope through this difficult experience.

Music therapists can help families, loved ones, and patients make joyful memories during impossible circumstances. They can support patients through chemo through music for relaxation and pain-management. They can help patients write songs to express the way they feel or create playlists to cope when they're on their own. They can host groups for staff to help them manage the secondhand grief that so many healthcare workers experience.

Music changes everything.

We send our love this month to all of our beloved patients, families, and staff who are affected by childhood cancer. 💛🦋🎗️

This month the Forever Young Foundation hosted their annual conference in Phoenix, Arizona! Meredith had the wonderful opportunity to attend and represent Sophie‘s Place, and present alongside Mike Merchant (Senior Vice President of Arbinger) on strategic planning and Sophie’s Place! The conference was mixed with wonderful opportunities for networking and connecting, as well as celebrating all of the wonderful initiatives that Steve and Barb Young support through the foundation and unite key stake holders that support the foundation as well.

We’re so grateful for all of the compassionate and brilliant people that make Sophie’s Place possible! 💛🦋

While in Arizona, Meredith had the opportunity to go to Banner children’s and meet with Sarra, the music therapist there! They had a wonderful time, including a tour of the hospital, discussed Sophie‘s place programming, and so much more. It is such a wonderful opportunity to meet others and connect in the Sophie’s Place family. 🎶✨

It’s hard to know what to say when someone as beloved as Dolly Parton passes from this world but all we can think about is the way her music has brought so much light and joy into our Sophie’s Place locations these past 13 years. 💛✨

This is a video from several years ago during one of our Friday self-care jams that the Primary Children’s (Salt Lake City) Sophie’s Place hosts every week for the music therapists and other staff members within the hospital to process and find joy through music. You can tell just listening the way Dolly’s music lit up the space and people there.

Dolly lived by the words Sophie often said: “Music changes everything!” 💐🦋
