Valor, honor, patriotism, and the ultimate sacrifice. The Missing Man formation. It symbolizes our lost wingmen while serving their beloved country. We perform this solemn ritual so others may remember our freedom is not free.

Take a quick look behind the scenes of today's Arizona Bike Week missing man formation. Today's flight was lead by Kurt Gearhart, with Carter Teeters, myself, Matt Peed, and Mike Doyle filling out the roster.

It was a privilege to honor our fallen warriors.

Wings of Flight Foundation has acquired a rare gun-nose B-25 Mitchell!

But this one is entirely affordable…

Mark Krumrey and Mark Rossman of the local Craig Hewitt chapter of the International Plastic Modelers Society came by the hangar today to drop off the latest addition to our 1/48th scale British WWII aircraft collection. It’s the only B-25 we have so far. The Brits used them for a good portion of WWII.

Thank you very much for your time, effort and skills to add to our collection. We appreciate you!

Each model represent anywhere from 40 to 100 hours of work to construct, paint, decal, and weather the model. Some of our donations are correct right down to proper seatbelts and instrument panels. All are in historically correct markings.

For many pilots, our passion for aviation started at age seven or eight when our dads bought us our first models. After that, we just refused to grow up.

Wings of Flight Foundation is grateful to have received a donation of a rotating beacon from the Mesa/Gateway Airport Operations group. The 1950’s vintage beacon appears to be in great shape, and will be put back to operational condition in the near future.

The beacon is “creatively marked” by various military personal that probably “rode” the beacon after being forecfully overserved at the Officer’s Club.

Could one of those inscriptions be yours? Or do you have a memory you’d like to share about trying to find the beacon in one of our famous haboobs?

We’d like to hear from you.

Thank you to the Mesa / Gateway Airport for this great piece of Arizona aviation history!
