It’s Community Meeting Sunday! 💛

It’s easy to go through life doing things on your own, but life is so much better when you have people to share it with.

That’s what our Sunday community meetings are all about. They’re not just another box to check or a meeting to attend. They’re opportunities to build relationships, develop life skills, have meaningful conversations, and grow together.

Tonight, we were joined by our good friend, Mathew Blades, who brought some realness to the conversation. He asked thoughtful questions that challenged us to think, opened the door for honest discussions, and gave us plenty to reflect on as we continue learning and growing together.

We love these Sunday evenings. Not because of what’s on the agenda, but because of the connections being made and the community being built. ❤️

Happy Friday, Arizona! ☀️🌵

Sometimes the best weekends aren’t the ones filled with plans, but the ones filled with little moments that make us smile.

A good conversation. A spontaneous adventure. Laughing until your stomach hurts. Or simply slowing down long enough to enjoy the people around you. 💛

At Foster Arizona, we believe connection matters. For kids and families navigating foster care, having people who show up, make time, and create space for meaningful moments can make all the difference.

And really, isn’t that something we could all use a little more of?

So here’s to a weekend filled with a little laughter, a little rest, and a whole lot of connection.

Mark your calendars for Saturday, October 24th! 💙

One of our favorite events of the year is coming up — our Young Women’s Empowerment Event!

This year’s theme is 𝗥𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝗬𝗼𝘂! We’ll spend the day talking about ways to release stress, let go of some of the baggage we carry, and make more room for confidence, connection, and moments of happiness in our lives.

This is a 𝗙𝗥𝗘𝗘 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁, with lunch and snacks provided, and registration is officially OPEN!

We love this day because we get to watch these young women grow in confidence as the day goes on. Our hope is that each one leaves feeling seen, supported, loved, and empowered.

This is also an incredible opportunity to volunteer. Volunteers get the chance to connect with the young women, encourage them, participate in the day, and help create an experience they may remember for years to come.

Sometimes simply showing up, listening, encouraging, and being fully present can make a lasting impact.

Once a year, Foster Arizona staff and volunteers have the opportunity to take a group of young adults from the Foster Arizona Housing Project away for a weekend filled with new experiences, connection, and a little well-deserved R&R.

Last weekend was that weekend — and it included SeaWorld San Diego, time at the beach, beautiful San Diego weather, and plenty of memories made along the way.

For some of the young adults who joined us, this weekend included stepping into the ocean for the very first time, visiting SeaWorld for the first time, and even experiencing what felt like a true vacation for the first time in their lives.

Those are moments that matter. And they are memories we hope they carry with them for a very long time.

To everyone who gives, supports, volunteers, and helps make experiences like this possible: thank you. Your generosity creates opportunities for young adults to experience something new, build meaningful connections, take a break from the everyday, and simply enjoy being together.

We are incredibly grateful for a weekend we won’t soon forget. 💙

One of our favorite things is connecting with our community. When that also gives families time to slow down, have fun, and make memories together, it’s icing on the cake! 💛

Recently, we partnered with the Children’s Museum of Phoenix for a day of exploration, learning, and play. Families and caregivers shared new discoveries, plenty of smiles, and time to simply enjoy being together.

Thank you to every family who joined us, our museum partners, and the volunteers who helped make the day possible. We’re grateful to create these moments of connection alongside you!

🎉 We’re officially in our Teen Era!

Today, Foster Arizona turns 13.

Thirteen years of showing up.
Thirteen years of building connections.
Thirteen years of reminding youth and families that they don’t have to navigate hard things alone.

What started as a desire to make a difference has grown into a community of people who continue to educate, empower, engage, and show up for one another.

And none of it happens without you.

To every youth, family, volunteer, donor, partner, staff member, and friend who has been part of these 13 years—thank you for being part of the Foster Arizona story.

We’re incredibly grateful for where we’ve been, and even more hopeful about where we’re going.

Today, we remember.

We remember the lives lost, the families forever changed, and the heroes who ran toward danger to help others.

We also remember what happened in the days that followed—communities came together. Neighbors cared for neighbors. Strangers supported one another. In the midst of unimaginable loss, unity reminded us that we are stronger when we stand together.

May we never forget the lives of September 11, 2001—and may we never forget the power of community to carry one another through even the hardest days.

Foster care doesn’t just need foster parents. It needs a community willing to show up.

A meal. A ride. A mentor. A volunteer. A local business willing to help. A friend who simply asks, “What would be helpful right now?”

In a new op-ed, Foster Arizona Founder & CEO Kimberly Vehon shares an important reminder: 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗱𝗼𝗻’𝘁 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗻 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗵𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗮 𝗱𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗳𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲.
