Data from First Things First shows strong support for updating the way Arizona funds early childhood programs. ICYMI: Calling it a “generational opportunity” and the “largest private investment in the city’s history to date,” the Mesa City Council unanimously approved a development agreement for Legacy Park and Gateway Crossing, marking a major step toward a roughly $3 billion private investment in southeast Mesa. The investment is expected to generate new tax revenues to cover public safety, streets, parks, libraries and services costs in Mesa.

Tempe knows the value of the arts. Arizona State University will develop and test water reuse technology for semiconductor manufacturing, thanks to more than $2 million in federal funding. Congressmembers Greg Stanton and Yassamin Ansari, along with U.S. Sen. Mark Kelly and Ruben Gallego, secured the funds from the National Institute of Standards and Technology.

WalletHub named its 50 best real estate markets in the nation and three PHX East Valley cities made the list. Gilbert leads the Arizona rankings at No. 13 nationally. Tempe and Chandler ranked No. 46 and 50, respectively. The analysis compared 300 U.S. cities on 17 indicators measuring everything from the economic strength to the appeal of each city’s housing market.
