Every watch comes to an end.
A watch is a season set aside to care, to guard, and to remain attentive so others can rest peacefully. ♥️
In Scripture, to watch means to stay vigilant and ready:
“Be sober, be vigilant…” — 1 Peter 5:8
“Watch and pray…” — Matthew 26:41
A watchman lovingly looks out for the people entrusted to him. A police officer’s watch is a defined shift of protection and service — hours committed to standing guard, serving others, and ensuring the well-being of a community. When one watch ends, another takes the post.
Frodo’s watch was Camp Hope. ♥️
He was a faithful, gentle presence at Camp Hope — steady, joyful, and always nearby. He had a remarkable way of meeting each camper right where they were. Whether a child needed quiet comfort, playful energy, steady companionship, or simply someone to sit beside them, Frodo seemed to know — and he responded.
He joined meals gladly, never missing a Camp Hope breakfast. And like our campers, he loved the bacon — especially when a kiddo proudly handed him a piece. He would gently accept it, rest his head on the table, and somehow make every gathering feel warmer and more complete.
He protected.
He comforted.
He played.
He trained.
During his watch, more than 700 kiddos came through Camp Hope — and Frodo had a quiet way of helping each one (and everyone he met) realize they are loved, valued, and created for purpose.
His watch has ended. 💔
The pain in the heartbreak is only a reflection of the joy in the moments we were given. ♥️
The sun will continue to rise and set. The kiddos will continue to experience the love God has for them as Camp Hope carries forward its mission — helping kiddos realize they are loved, valued, and created for purpose. ✝️
Thank you, Frodo. We will take it from here. 🫡
With the highest honor and love,
Joyfully in Hope,
Howie — and the Camp Hope family
