What's happening in Los Angeles isn’t just a moment—it's a wake-up call.

Images of I.C.E. (and now the National Guard and Marines) in immigrant neighborhoods and protests in the streets stir grief and concern for many of us. For our refugee and immigrant neighbors, it stirs fear and uncertainty.

At Matthew House, we refuse to be silent.

🌟 Meet Sepideh (Sepi), our amazing intern who just wrapped up her Occupational Therapy capstone with Matthew House AZ!

Sepi worked with Afghan moms, conducting needs assessments and hosting classes to help them understand their children’s developmental milestones and be able to prepare them for Kindergarten. Her Farsi-speaking skills created a deep connection with these incredible women as they embraced parenting in a new country and culture.

💬 “Afghan women carry so much strength. I use OT tools to help them channel that strength into new roles and routines in the U.S., on their own terms.” - Sepi

Though Sepi’s internship has ended, her impact is lasting. These moms will carry on with new teachers and the strong foundation she helped build. Join us in celebrating Sepi's incredible work and the resilience of these Afghan families! 💛
