Today, we pause.

We remember the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country—and the families who carry that loss every day.

At Fostering Voices, we’re especially mindful that freedom isn’t free. It’s built on sacrifice, courage, and a deep love for others. Those same values show up in the lives of the children and families we serve—resilience, hope, and the power of community.

As we gather with loved ones today, may we hold space for remembrance, gratitude, and reflection.

We remember. We honor. We don’t forget.

“Community isn’t just about being together—it’s about doing life together.”

According to the U.S. Public Health Service, people who report a weak sense of community are nearly 𝟱𝘅 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲𝗹𝘆 to experience poor mental health. Even more sobering—social disconnection carries a mortality risk comparable to 𝘀𝗺𝗼𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝟭𝟱 𝗰𝗶𝗴𝗮𝗿𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗲𝘀 𝗮 𝗱𝗮𝘆.

This month, let’s be intentional.
Reach out. Check in. Show up.

With our family.
With our friends.
With our neighbors.
With our community.

In this clip from Episode 228 of the Fostering Voices Podcast: Empowering Vulnerable Youth in Uncertain Times, Kim Vehon shares a powerful truth: too many young adults are navigating life without a single person they can rely on when things get hard.

You don’t have to be everything—but you can be someone.

What if, instead of reacting, we leaned in with questions? What might change in the way we connect?

Have you followed the Fostering Voices Podcast yet? This is a space for authentic conversations with real people—many of them experts—where we learn, grow, and remind ourselves that we’re not in this alone. We all want the same thing: to better support our kids, young adults, and communities.

It’s Fostering Voices Friday.

In our first clip, we talked about the reality that many of our youth are struggling with their mental health.

So now the question becomes: How do we parent and support in a way that provides structure and boundaries—while still giving our kids what they truly need… connection and a sense of self-worth?

This part of the conversation challenges us to think differently about how we show up.

🔔 NEW EPISODE ALERT 🔔

Sometimes in the world of foster care and adoption, there are hurdles that can add frustration when all you’re trying to do is support a child in need. But what happens when those barriers stand in the way of permanency and adoption?

In this episode of the Fostering Voices Podcast, we sit down with Leah and Brian from the Gift of Adoption Fund to explore how families are supported as they welcome youth who have faced adversity into permanent, loving homes.

With more than 6,500 children served and over $22 million in adoption funding provided, their work is creating tangible pathways to stability, connection, and belonging.

We’re grateful for organizations like Gift of Adoption Fund that help bridge the gap and make permanency more possible for families and youth alike.
