Meet Marta.
A few months ago, she was facing significant financial difficulties — struggling to make ends meet for her family in the Mutua community of Mozambique.
Today, she stands behind a small wooden stall of her own making. A new business, just beginning to take root.
What changed?
Through our Family Preservation Program, Marta received two things: targeted skills training, and a business kit to launch with. Practical, focused, and paired with ongoing mentorship from our field team.
That's it. No handouts. No dependency. Just the tools and the training to build something of her own.
Her words say it best:
"Thank you so much to the project team for your support; you have given me back the hope to live. With the help you have given me, I can adjust my income and minimize the difficulties I have been facing. Now I know that I will fight to maintain and grow my business."
This is what development assistance looks like when it's done with dignity — not for people, but with them.
Marta is the proof. And there are more families ready to begin.

Where it all begins.
A child carrying a child. A circle of friends in the sand. A community gathered to play, sing, and learn together.
This is what the Children's Well-Being Program looks like on a regular afternoon in Mozambique.
Every week, children across our program communities come together for sessions led by volunteer promoters from their own neighborhoods. They learn about their rights. They reflect on healthy choices. They imagine futures they get to shape.
We've always believed that lasting change in a community starts here — with the children who are old enough to remember what changed, and young enough to spend a lifetime building on it.
Thank you to every facilitator, volunteer, and donor who shows up for these kids week after week. Thank you to every supporter of Care for Life who makes this work possible — this is what your partnership looks like.

Last Friday, 36 teams teed off at Glenmoor Golf Club for the Champions for Charities Invitational — and we had the joy of being named the benefiting charity.
To Integrated Financial Group and Mailbox Power: thank you for choosing us, for opening your platform, and for inviting Care for Life into a day filled with so much heart.
To every golfer who showed up: you didn't just play a round, you stood with families in Mozambique. Thank you to Aly and Mary Ann, who hosted at Hole 4, to Brad, who connected with players at Hole 12, and to every volunteer who made the day run beautifully from shotgun start to final putt.
Each golfer left with a hand-carved animal pen — a small piece of Mozambican craftsmanship in their pocket. And seven business leaders left ready to explore how their work might join ours.
The weather was perfect. The vibe was joyful, and full of generosity. And the ripple of this one day will reach further than we can see.
Because you played, a family rises. 💛🌍
(Stay tuned — we'll be sharing more from this incredible day very soon.)

Happy Mother's Day to the women who hold their families and communities together.
In the villages where we work, mothers are the heartbeat of everything — feeding children, building businesses, leading savings groups, and passing on the lessons that shape the next generation. They don't wait to be rescued. They rise, and they bring others with them.
To every mother in Mozambique — and to mothers everywhere — thank you for the strength you carry. We see you.

Three years. Five phases. One graduation.
On March 25, the Mutua community gathered to mark something extraordinary — the completion of "Freedom," the fifth and final phase of our Family Preservation Program.
Freedom isn't a ceremony. It's a measurement. A community reaches this phase when it has built the knowledge, skills, and self-reliance to carry the work forward on its own — without us.
Children, families, promoters, facilitators, and local leaders came together to celebrate the journey. There were cultural performances. Educational messages. Quiet moments of reflection on years of shared effort.
And there was a child who stood up and said:
"We learned many things, and now we know how to make good choices so that we don't face consequences in the future."
That's what self-reliance sounds like. That's what Freedom looks like.
Thank you to every partner, donor, and friend who walked this road with Mutua. Another community is just beginning theirs — and we'd love to walk it with you, too. www.careforlife.org

We have something to celebrate.
In February, Care for Life received a certificate of honor from the Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Fisheries in Sofala Province, signed personally by the Governor. It's the first recognition of its kind in over a decade of operations, awarded specifically for our community-based agricultural work.
This isn't just a certificate. It's proof that the model works — and that the Mozambican government sees it too. Click the link in our bio to learn more.

Timóteo Manuel Joaquim and Linda Augusto Luís are running a functioning small business in Mafambisse — and it's growing.
They started with a simple market stall, limited capital, and a commitment to make it work. Timóteo handles sourcing and restocking. Linda runs customer service. That division of roles — learned through experience, not a textbook — made everything more efficient. The stall grew. Their income improved.
This is what the Care for Life Family Preservation Program is built to produce: not handouts, but the training, framework, and follow-through that turns ambition into action. www.careforlife.org

There's something powerful about a family that feeds itself.
In communities across Mozambique, Care for Life families are growing food in their own backyards — vegetables, greens, cassava, bananas. What starts as a small plot of land becomes something much bigger: a source of nutrition, income, dignity, and independence.
Before family gardens, parents often had to travel far to farm — leaving children behind, sometimes for days at a time. The family garden changed that equation. The work stayed close to home. The family stayed together. And children stayed in school.
When a family grows its own food, everything else becomes possible.

We have some exciting news to share. 🎉
Our Care for Life Director, Solomon Malidadi, has been called as Mission President of the Mozambique Nampula Mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Solomon has given years of his life to this work — walking alongside families in Mozambique, building systems of self-reliance that outlast any single program or person. His leadership, his humility, and his deep love for the people of Mozambique have helped shape Care for Life from the inside out.
This calling is no surprise to those of us who know him. It is exactly the kind of role that a man like Solomon was made for.
We celebrate him and his wife, Amalia as they step into this next chapter.
