Fished the north side of the overpass of the Indian River on 528 by the islands beginning at 6:30. Lots of trout , somewhere between 30 and 40 released. All in slightly deeper water at the far west end of the second island. Watched the launch of the Falcon Heavy, and of course picked up some trash.

Observed floating sea grass and decent patches in the water. When returning along the 528 shoreline I saw a red just hanging along a log 3 feet away which of course spooked and 2 nice sheepshead. All 3 in about 1 foot of water.

Smaller trout were caught on a slam shady with a 1/8 oz z-man, larger ones switched to a mulligan. Noticed the larger trout were swallowing the mulligan and jig whole, tail end 1st. Was able to remove and release them. Just a beautiful 4 hours on the water.

The Lagoon is amazing!

Fantastic event this morning at Handler Fishing Supply . Great crowd showed up.

Thanks to Handler, No Live Bait Needed, Star Tron, Project SeaSafe, Daiwa, and others. They raffled off some beautiful artwork by Derek Redwine and buckets of Starbrite products to support restoration efforts.

Fantastic morning on the Mosquito Lagoon at Biolab Road at the Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge. Amazing Sea Grass Coverage. Then on to Bairs Cove for the Manatees, which didn't disappoint. Also picked up some trash. And finally, check out the Sea Grass Recovery per surveys from St. Johns River Water Management District.

The Indian River Lagoon is making progress.

Fantastic Space Coast Salt Strong chapter meeting last night. Nice fishing reports, some prize winners and a presentation by Vince Lamb of the Brevard Indian River Lagoon Coalition discussing the status of the lagoon and their work.

The lagoon is definitely improving, but we are not over the hump yet.

What is That??

Found this giant piece of styrofoam in Sykes Creek. Took over 20 minutes to cross the creek to the dock. One more bizarre item removed.

Always great to have a visit from Tyler Provoncha and the team at Restore Our Shores with the Brevard Zoo to check on my oysters. Nice to learn that they found more oysters than I was aware of and even some spat. Tyler is always a wealth of information and advice.

If you want to help restore the Indian River Lagoon, check them out, they do lots of interesting projects that are making a difference.
