It’s amazing how some of our most valuable native plants quietly support entire ecosystems. Slender mountain mint is a wonderful reminder that creating habitat for pollinators doesn’t always mean planting for ourselves—it means planting for the bees, butterflies, and beneficial insects that keep our environment healthy. Thank you to our Conservation Commission for continuing to educate and inspire our community

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Merrimack Fire & Rescue Celebrates the Recognition of Two Firefighters

MERRIMACK, NH: On Monday, July 14, 2026, Chief of Department Joseph Guarnera and the members of Merrimack Fire & Rescue proudly recognized the accomplishments of two probationary firefighters.

Chief Guarnera and Captain Mark Bickford had the honor of presenting Firefighter Simeon Napoli and Firefighter Eugene Hennessy with their new black helmet shields in recognition of their successful completion of the probationary period with Merrimack Fire & Rescue.

As part of department tradition, probationary firefighters wear an orange helmet shield during their initial training and evaluation period. Upon successfully completing probation, Probationary Fire Fighters are presented with an all-black firefighter helmet shield, symbolizing their achievement and their transition to full membership within the department.

Congratulations to Firefighter Napoli and Firefighter Hennessy on reaching this significant career milestone!

Merrimack Fire & Rescue is proud of their dedication, commitment, and hard work, and looks forward to their continued service to the Merrimack community.

Just a small, sincere wish for everyone who sees this. May something good find you today—a kind word, an easy moment, a reason to smile, or a little peace when you need it most. And may you have the chance to pass some of that goodness along. 🌿
