Sebastian recently completed his Eagle project at Thorntons Ferry Elementary School in Merrimack. His project involved creating a wheelchair-accessible outdoor reading area in the unused courtyard. Sebastian led two different crews to complete the work over two days. He worked hard to prepare the materials and obtain all the necessary permissions to allow his crews to finish the project on time. The results are fantastic and will be enjoyed by students for many years to come. Congratulations, Sebastian! Huge thanks to the scouts, leaders, parents, and the community at large for supporting his project.

In March, the boys' troop continued their month of animal-themed activities with a marine life outing to the New Hampshire seacoast where they visited the Seacoast Science Center and its aquariums, hiked the trails at Odiorne State Park, explored the rocky coastline, and clambered around the remains of a WII fort. This was a winter campout at Camp Carpenter with snow on Friday night. Both nights were below freezing so everyone earned a decent amount of frost points. Thank you to Mr Pittman, Mr White, and Mr Walters for assisting on this trip.

This year Troop15 was invited to attend several Blue & Gold ceremonies for local Packs and accept AoL crossovers from each. It was great to see the results of all the hard work the leaders and parents put in to provide a fun and engaging program for their Cub Scouts. We're pleased to welcome a dozen new scouts to the Troop. There will be a new parent meeting this month so we can help you learn how the Troop works and start getting to know all the new faces! Here are group photos from 2 of the 3 packs we visited.

Scouting for Food is an annual service project to help fill the shelves at our local food pantries. Troop 15 and Pack 525 work together in the central and southern part of Merrimack to deliver food to St John Neumann. This year we brought in an astonishing 6200 items to benefit people in need in our community! Great work everyone! Thanks to all of our scouts and families who took time out of their busy schedules to hang door tags, collect donations, and help with the sort. Here are a few photos that do not capture everyone who participated out in the field. If you have photos from your routes, please share. Special thanks to Adric our "scorekeeper" and Mr Adams who stayed late to powerwash all the carts and tables.

Scouts spent this afternoon putting their crafting skills to work for our next fundraiser - the Thornton's Ferry Craft Fair Saturday Nov 22 from 9am-2pm. We built 30 birdhouses which still need to be painted and decorated. We also made embroidered leather ornaments. Special thanks to Mr. Brown, Mrs. Jenkins, and Miss Rochford for setting us up for success and all the parents who stayed to help us out.

Scouts from 15B just returned from the Into The Woods camporee at Hidden Valley in Gilmanton, NH. This was a chance for troops to teach Arrow of Light scouts the skills they need for their rank requirements and for us to get to know some of the local Cub Scout packs. Our scouts were in charge of the Knife Safety station. Older scouts taught AoLs and worked with some of our new scout patrol on their own rank advancements, so it was a very productive outing for those who attended. The weather was great and the pace was relaxed. We had time for sports and games as well. Fortunately, none of the AoLs were injured at our station. The same could not be said for one of our scouts who was ironically reviewing his own knife safety skills! Thankfully our leaders are well trained in first aid :) Big thanks to Mr Adams, Mr Walters, and the Luce family for making this outing possible.

Last weekend the girls spent tome camping at Wa Tut Ca. Wah-Tut-Ca Scout Reservation is a former Scout camp located on Northwood Lake in Northwood, New Hampshire. It spans over 300 acres with nearly one and a half miles of shoreline. The name "Wah-Tut-Ca" comes from a Native American phrase that means "friends and brothers”. The girls spent time working on skills and canoeing on the beautiful waters of Northwood Lake.

This weekend, Stephen completed his Eagle project at Camp Berea on beautiful Newfound Lake. His challenging project involved demolishing three sets of old cabin stairs and completely rebuilding them. Stephen worked with two different crews to pull this together over two days. His preparation was excellent and he did a good job leading the crews to complete the project on time. The results look great! Congratulations, Stephen! And thank you to all of the scouts, leaders, family, and friends who came out to help or supported Stephen's project behind the scenes.

In September, the boys kicked off their scouting year with a refresh of their hiking and backpacking skills. To keep the "outing" in scouting, most of our meetings were held in local parks and conservation areas which worked out well for both troops. For example, for our meeting at Wasserman, we worked on backpack cooking on the beach while the girls practiced their canoe skills out on the lake. Our campout this month was a long overdue return to Camp Creager and included a fun visit with a local Cub Scout pack as well as hiking. Not too many photos this month, but here are a few:

A few of our girls had the honor of assisting with some painting at Merrimack’s first schoolhouse today. They painted the front sign and some of the railings. A scout is helpful!
