Just a quick update, Wildcat Falls and Railroad Ave bins have been removed for the winter. I appreciate everyone that has utilized them this year. Our collective efforts have made a huge impact around town, making it a more enjoyable experience for everyone out enjoying nature. Sklar park bin will be left out and available until further notice.

As always, thanks for doing your part to help keep our town and waterways clean!

Evening folks and welcome to Trash Talk!
Approximate trash total:: 2,200 gallons
(This total does not include the truck loads of large items as I have no way to quantify it)

Today’s adventure takes us to the mouth of Naticook Brook. After a few adventures with my trusty steed a coil spring caught my eye, bags, countless bottles and cans, folding chair, sled, tv housing, dash panel, a tractor? axle, over a dozen tires and more. Spent a few hours playing in the brook until I ran out of day light. Unfortunately the longer you stare at it the worse it gets but this put a good dent in it. I’ll be presenting it to the conservation committee for a spring clean up project as I alone can’t remove the buried tires and axle. Hoping if I reach out to the transfer station I can get them on board to wave the fees for the tires. It’s a bit of a deterrent collecting tires having to pay the fees out of pocket. I’ll keep everyone updated on that project in case they wish to help volunteer in the spring.

I hope everyone is doing well, staying warm and has a Happy Thanksgiving! As always, thanks for doing your part to help keep our town and waterways clean!

Due to current events with park management along with lazy litter bugs, the bin has been relocated next to the boat ramp.
Little history reminder.. these parks used to have bins but the few ruined it for the many. Tossing batteries, acs, electronics and household trash filling them up instantly. The town understandably decided it was a nuisance and removed them. I took it upon myself to add bins and maintain them in an effort to clean up the parks. It has been wildly successful and I’m grateful to have the backing and support of the town committees, the council and town manager.
These hills have eyes, if I catch anyone dumping household trash into or around the bin you’ll be reported for dumping. You’ll also make a public appearance being put up on the wall of shame. I encourage anyone who sees it first hand to please report it to the police. Hopefully there’ll be no issues but nothing surprises me anymore.

As always, thanks for doing your part to keep our town and waterways clean!

Afternoon folks, hope everyone is doing well!
I’m putting some feelers out today to all you artsy ladies and gents. Over the winter I’d like to find some folks that’d be interested in painting some trash bins, to spruce them up and make them more visible to the public. Whether it be a project for art class/club in school, an art studio, an artist looking for something outside the box. I have three bins, if there’s multiple interested parties we can divvy them up. Full artistic license, just have to keep it family friendly and leave the text on the lids alone. Other than that go nuts!
If you’d be interested in a project like this feel free to comment here or reach out and we’ll talk turkey. Yes the bins will be clean when you get them.

As always, thanks for doing your part to keep our town and waterways clean!

I’m happy to say I have not personally seen or been told about any other troubled spots in The Mack. Our little town is squashed between two cities, a thruway for a lot of folks, rail system and waterways converging from all directions. When you follow the water you follow the trash. Branched out today into Bedford at the Heritage Trail. Spent a few hours in the parking lot (was absolutely trashed), the trestle and river front. Their trash can is locked down with a hole in it for cans and bottles, everything else unfortunately gets pitched into the woods. When the river rises we won’t be seeing trash from that bend this fall.
“Be the change you wish to see in the world”, was on my mind today. Lot of onlookers, photographers and curious kids. Was nice to educate and spread some awareness. Hopefully it’ll inspire someone to join in on the cause.

Thanks for doing your part to keep our town and waterways clean!

Today I’ll let the video speak for itself.

Good morning and happy Sunday ladies and gents, hope everyone is enjoying their weekend! Fall is here, foliage is beautiful, the parks with bins are in a good state. I’m reaching out to you tonight to see if there’s another troubled spot in town. Either to do a fall cleanup or a spot that might be a candidate for a bin in the spring. Keep in mind there’s a few simple criteria I look for setting up bins.
-High traffic area that’s consistently trashed.
-Needs to be in a spot where folks can’t park and dump their household trash.
-Needs to be easily accessible, not a lookout on a hilltop for example.
Put your thinking caps on, share ideas, add photos of troubled spots, chat with each other and we’ll see what we come up with.

As always… thanks for doing your part to keep our town and waterways clean!

Good morning folks and welcome to Trash Talk!
Approximate trash total:: 1720 gallons
All three bins were emptied and cleaned this morning. My plan for the bins are to keep them out until the snow flies then I’ll put them back out in the spring time.
Some filthy animal forgot their bed at Sklar Riverfront Park but it’s off to the dump today. Also found this motivational mug!
When I started this project at the beginning of summer the only real goal was to give people an opportunity to do the right thing and make my pastime easier. Every time I empty the bins it’s a constant reminder that folks care about this town and together we’re making a positive change. It’ll never be perfect but it keeps me busy and has given me some purpose outside of the regular day to day grind. I’m proud to call this my home town and I’m proud of all the good folks in it.

Thank you for doing your part to help keep our parks and waterways clean!

Evening folks and welcome to Trash Talk!
Approximate trash total:: 1,300 gallons
Hope everyone had a wonderful Labor Day weekend and avoided the crazy traffic. Got some big news and a few things to talk about tonight so get comfy!
-Out of the gate I’d like to thank the town for fixing the washed out access road in Wildcat Falls. Typhoon we had washed it out, they filled and graded it fixing all the tripping hazards. Kudos to the folks behind the scenes!
- Lot of you have heard that I’m passionate about keeping the waterways clean. I’m an avid fishermen and hiker that has seen the ebb and flow of the river banks and adjacent parks during my lifetime. Which is what started this project to help me clean up those areas I frequent and seen get trashed over the years. I went to Nashua last week and sat in on the conservation committee meeting with Pennichuck Water which was very informative. Main reason was for the following meeting for the Lower Merrimack River LAC. The work they do really resonated with me, being able to share my experiences over the years and changes I’ve seen was great. I’m filling out the application forms and hoping to join them as a Merrimack representative. I’m very excited to expand my knowledge, educate and share it with others.
-Big news for my bin project this week! I figured over time the town would catch wind and want to talk to me about it. What I honestly did not expect was for the conservation committee to reach out with no objections and positive feedback. All that was asked of me was to bring it above board. With the backing from the committee I was directed to talk to the town manager. I spoke with Paul today who was pleased to hear about my project and efforts. Project got the green light, only asking me to sign a volunteer form which I’m bringing to the town hall tomorrow. We’ll soon be above board with the town’s backing!
-All bins will be cleaned this Friday the 5th after a quick morning sweep at Wildcat Falls.

As always, thank you for doing your job to help keep our town and water ways clean!
