New boaters can now obtain their education and certifications from home through State-approved online boating safety courses and final exams.

These courses are NASBLA-accredited, recognized by the U.S. Coast Guard, and recognized by all 56 US states and territories.

While New Hampshire has offered online courses since 2001, final exams were required to be in-person. Recent legislation now allows anyone 18 and older to take their final exam online. Boaters under 18 are still required to test in person.

The cost for the online course is $49.95. Classroom courses remain available for a cost of $41.50.

Interested boaters can register at www.boatingeducation.nh.gov.
