This post is always so hard to do but I refuse to let this day go by without honoring our first grandchild’s “birthday”.

Finnlee James is 7 today!

He should be here.

Instead he is in heaven waiting for us, watching us, watching his brothers instead of being here playing and fighting with them.

He was born still at 40 weeks (and one day).

As a mom, there is nothing worse than watching your daughter go through this extreme loss. It is unbearable. I want to take her pain away and I can’t.

Life does go on but the heart still hurts and that pain will not go away because we are missing a part of our family.

Finnlee you are so deeply loved and missed!

Happy heavenly 7th birthday 💙🦊

✨ Foxes for Finnlee ✨
On March 20th, 2019, our lives changed forever when our precious grandson, Finnlee James, was born still at 40 weeks. In his honor, we created Foxes for Finnlee, an initiative that brings comfort to families who have experienced the unimaginable loss of a child.

Through this program, we donate stuffed foxes—like the one pictured below—to the AdventHealth Shawnee Mission Birth Center, where Finnlee was born. Each fox is lovingly delivered by the Postpartum Emotional Support Team, led by RN Tricia Rausch, who supports families with extraordinary compassion as they navigate their grief.
Every fox carries a simple message of comfort… a reminder that no family walks this path alone. 🦊🤍

If you’d like to help us honor Finnlee’s memory and offer comfort to another family, you can donate a fox through our Amazon link:

At checkout, please choose “Tricia Rausch Gift Registry Address” to have the fox shipped directly to the hospital.

You may also mail a fox directly to:

Thank you for helping us honor Finnlee and for bringing comfort to families who need it most. 🤍🦊

As we approach the end of February, all I can think about is Spring. Spring has always been my favorite season — everything feels new, full of hope, a time of rebirth.

Until 2019.

Our daughter was expecting our first grandson, and I couldn’t wait for him to arrive. When the call finally came telling us it was time, my husband and I jumped in the car and started the 8‑hour drive from Chicago to Kansas City. We were halfway there when the phone rang again:

“There is no heartbeat.”

How could that be? It couldn’t be true. There had to be some mistake. But there wasn’t. And in that moment, our world shifted.

Finnlee James was born still on March 20, 2019. Our lives were forever changed. Our hearts shattered for our daughter and son‑in‑law. We felt helpless — so we channeled that pain into something small we could do. We began sending foxes to the hospital where Finnlee was born, a simple gesture to let other grieving families know they are not alone.

Finnlee should be turning 7 this year. He should be wrestling with his brothers. He should be here. And we know there are so many families walking through this same kind of heartbreak. A stuffed fox can’t fix that — but it can remind someone that their baby mattered, and that someone cares.

If you would like to help us continue sharing that love, we would be incredibly grateful.

Choose a fox, add it to your cart, select the registry address at checkout, and it will be delivered directly to the hospital.

Thank you for honoring our grandson’s memory and for spreading kindness to families who need it. ❤️🦊🦊🦊

Giving Tuesday - a day late 💙🦊

On March 20, 2019, our lives were forever changed when our first grandson, Finnlee James, was born still at 40 weeks. In his memory, we created "FOXES FOR FINNLEE," an initiative to support families who have experienced the unimaginable loss of a child.
Through this initiative, we send stuffed foxes to Advent Health Shawnee Mission, where Finnlee was born. These foxes are delivered by the Post Partum Emotional Support RN, Tricia Rausch, who has dedicated herself to helping families navigate their grief. Each fox serves as a small token of comfort, letting these families know they are not alone in their sorrow.
Your support means the world to us and to the families who receive these foxes. Thank you for helping us honor Finnlee's memory and for making a difference in the lives of others.

With heartfelt gratitude,
Finnlees Grandma and Grampa

October is infant loss rememberance month. Our first grandchild, Finnlee James was born still on March 20,2019.

Watching our daughter go through the most painful experience is something I wouldn’t wish on anyone. The pain never ends, he should be here playing and fighting with his younger brothers.

As a mother all I want to do is take away my daughter’s pain but unfortunately I can’t do that so we created Finnlee Foxes. Hopefully the foxes sent in Finnlee memory shows parents and their siblings they are not alone.
