🌱 Grant Spotlight: Prairie Elementary/Jr. High School
An AITC classroom grant provided K-8 students at Prairie Elementary/Jr. High School, led by Stephanie Lewis, with resources to explore agriculture through hands-on learning.
Students dissected flowers to learn about plant parts and pollination, explored the role of bees, studied plant life cycles, and discovered how plants grow and reproduce. They also connected agriculture to history by learning about cultivation, Westward Expansion, and Idaho's agricultural roots.
The grant also supported the transformation of a science space in the school's Learning Annex, where students will continue growing seeds and expanding their agriculture education throughout the coming school year.
Through these hands-on experiences, students corrected misconceptions about pollination, photosynthesis, plant reproduction, and plant survival while building knowledge they could apply in their classroom garden and future learning.
