✈️ We hope you’ve enjoyed Passport to Adventure and exploring all the ways your library card can go with you, whether you’re somewhere wild, somewhere far away, somewhere full of stories, or right here at home.

Most of all, thank you for joining us and supporting our efforts to put new materials on the shelves of the Meridian Library District. Together, you’ve helped us raise more than $10,300 for new library materials!

Here’s to wherever your next adventure takes you. 🗺️

Lærðu að segja Goðafoss á íslensku með Mango og bókasafnsskírteininu þínu.

Don’t know what that says? Your library card can help!

Headed to Iceland to see places like the incredible Goðafoss Waterfall? Your Meridian Library District card gives you FREE access to Mango Languages, where you can learn some Icelandic before you go.

And here’s your first lesson: foss means waterfall in Icelandic!

Whether you want to learn a few useful phrases before a trip, brush up on a language you haven’t used in years, or tackle an entirely new one just because you can, your library card can help you get started.

The adventure doesn’t have to begin when you arrive. Sometimes it starts before you ever leave home.

THE FINISH LINE IS IN SIGHT!

WOW, Meridian! On Thursday, we challenged our community to fund 100 new library books by Monday. With a little help from our friends and an incredible response from all of you, you absolutely blew that goal away.

Not only did we surpass our 100-book challenge, we nearly sold out the entire raffle!

484 of 500 tickets are spoken for. Just 16 remain!

As a special thank-you, the Foundation is taking you inside the Cherry Lane Library construction this afternoon for a behind-the-scenes tour of the space where many of these new books will soon call home.

We can’t wait to show you what you’re helping make possible. Check back later this evening!

🐕❄️ Ever have an adventure that sends you down a completely new trail?

Spend a day dogsledding through the Canadian Rockies and suddenly you want to know EVERYTHING about mushing.

How do sled dogs know where to go? How are they trained? How long can they run? Where did dogsledding begin? And why are these dogs SO excited to pull a sled?!

That’s where your library card comes in.

Explora is an all-ages research resource available through Meridian Library District, with articles covering everything from history and current events to science, health, and yes, plenty about mushing and dogsledding.

Because sometimes the best adventures don’t end when you get home. They leave you wanting to learn more.

Sled dog Maverick has a question for Meridian...

CAN MERIDIAN FUND 100 NEW BOOKS BY MONDAY?

We’ve already sold 195 Passport to Adventure raffle tickets, which means 195 brand-new books funded for Meridian Library District!

Now, can we add 100 MORE by Monday?

That’s 100 people buying one $20 ticket, 50 buying two, 25 buying four...you get the idea!

1 ticket = $20 = 1 new library book.

Plus, every ticket is a chance to win our $1,200+ Grand Prize Package or one of 20 runner-up prizes.

Our goal is 500 new books by September 30. Grab a ticket or share this post and help us get 100 books closer!

WHERE DID YOU TAKE YOUR LIBRARY?

“I brought my library to the Oregon Coast! 🌊”

Foundation Board Member Becky brought a library book along on her summer trip to Lincoln City, Oregon, where it made the perfect beach companion. “Sitting with a good book. Life is good.” - Becky

Fellow Board Member Brian took his library to Cannon Beach, with Libby eBooks loaded on his Kindle. “I don’t always pack a book, but having one on my Kindle makes it easy. It’s small, portable, and my next read is right there when I want it.” - Brian

Throughout September, we’re sharing some of the places our community has taken their libraries along for the adventure.

Where have you taken your library?
