WHERE DID YOU TAKE YOUR LIBRARY?

“I took mine to the Sawtooths! 🏔️

For whatever reason, we decided to hike the entire Toxaway Loop in one day. I had several books queued up on Libby, and with more than 20 miles through the Sawtooth wilderness, I had plenty of time with my Powerbeats in and Libby going.

By the time we made it back to the trailhead, exhausted and in the dark, I had listened to two entire audiobooks (and a few loud songs to get me through some of the steeper terrain!).

I always have an audiobook (or five) downloaded on my phone when I’m headed somewhere, whether it’s a long hike, a road trip, or just running around town. It’s one of my favorite things about having a library card. My library can pretty much come with me anywhere!”

Last fall and winter, our community came together through the Meridian Library Foundation to bring MOBI (Mobile Outreach Bus of Ideas) to life. Today, we're excited to share what you've made possible.

This spring and summer, MOBI has traveled throughout the Meridian Library District, bringing hands-on library programs to community festivals, parks, and events. Along the way, it's been equipped with new laptops, iPads, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and other tools that help bring learning wherever it's needed.

Even better, because of your generosity, we reached our fundraising goal for MOBI. Every current need has been met, and the resources are already in place for the next phase of programming as new activity kits are finalized.

One of our favorite things has been seeing MOBI and the Bookmobile work side by side. While the Bookmobile offers books and library materials to check out, MOBI brings programs for hands-on learning, creativity, and discovery.

Take a look at the photos...MOBI isn't just a sprinter van. It's kids exploring, families learning together, neighbors connecting, and the library showing up where the community already is.
