Cougar Mountain Country Association Inc started out as a family snowmobile club to promote groomed trails and access near Boise, Idaho. We are a 501c3 charitable organization that works with other organizations to preserve motorized riding areas in all Idaho. We are based in Boise and have members all around Meridian, Nampa, Caldwell, Kuna, Cascade and many more. We work to keep area 43D in Smith

Ferry, Idaho open to motorized recreational vehicles including, snowmobiles, UTV, 4-wheelers, motorcycles and more. We have many fundraising events we do to help the community and keep motorized access to Idaho public lands. We work with private landowners to gain back access to public lands.

There is a truck stuck on the trail 3.5 miles from the Wellington parking lot. A snowmobile can get around. The plan is to get it out today. Rich gave them a ride to Cougar Mtn lodge where they were met by the Sheriff and cited.

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT
Warm Lake Summit Recreational Access | Winter 2025-2026

Perpetua Resources, in collaboration with Valley County Idaho, Valley County Snowmobile Advisory Council, West Central Uphill Alliance - WCUA, Idaho Recreation Council, Valley County Sheriff's Office, and Cascade Fire Department, is sharing the following update regarding access on Warm Lake Summit (2nd summit on Warm Lake Rd.) for the 2025-2026 winter season:

β€’ Road Access: Road east of Warm Lake to Landmark – approximately three miles east of the intersection of Warm Lake Road and South Fork Road – is now open to wheeled vehicles. When snow is present, the road will be plowed to a 3-4 inch snow floor, with aggregate applied as needed.

β€’ Safety: Four-wheel drive and chains on cars, trucks, and trailers are strongly recommended. The road up and over the summit is steep and can be hazardous in winter. Travel at your own risk. Please share the road and pull over safely for plowing and maintenance equipment.

β€’ Traffic and Operations: Starting January 16, Perpetua Resources vehicle traffic will include:
o Heavy-duty trucks Monday through Thursday
o Light-duty truck traffic Friday through Sunday

β€’ Parking and Recreation Access: Parking will be available at Landmark. Additional roadside pullouts near the summit are available for backcountry skiers where conditions allow.

β€’ Avalanche Safety and Closures: Perpetua Resources conducts avalanche forecasting to support its operations. During periods of elevated avalanche hazard, the road east of Warm Lake to Landmark will be closed to wheeled vehicles. Snowmobiles and foot traffic will not be affected during these closures. Conditions are subject to change at any time and closures may be enacted without prior notification.

More details to follow as information is available. Please share with anyone you know who recreates in this area.
