We don't need monumental teaching moments. We just need to do our best to listen. He'll meet us more than half way.

I never thought I'd say this — but one morning on my back porch, listening to the birds, God interrupted me. Turns out He's been using birds to teach His people something since Genesis. I'm just the latest student.

Some posts come together quickly.

This wasn't one of them.

Today's blog is a little longer than usual, a little more reflective, and a little more raw. It explores something I've wrestled with for years: trusting God while still wanting desperately to understand.

It's also one of those posts where my neuroextra brain is not intentionally hidden. The questions, the rabbit trails, the revisiting old decisions, the search for meaning—it all made it onto the page.

If you've ever found yourself replaying decisions, wondering whether you did enough, chose wisely enough, or understood clearly enough, I think you'll find something familiar here. Please let me know.

I trust God. I believe He is good, righteous, and trustworthy. Understanding is the part I struggle with. The older I get, the more I realize that faith isn't always about getting answers. Sometimes it's about taking the next step before you can see the entire bridge.

Caregiving decisions are rarely simple.

Sometimes people only see the hardest moments and assume they are seeing the whole story. But behind every family decision are emotions, fears, hopes, exhaustion, love, faith, and realities others may never fully understand.

Years ago, people thought my mom and I were nearing the end of what life together could look like.

Instead, we were given more than ten additional years together.

This story is deeply personal, but I hope it also encourages caregivers walking difficult roads right now: there is no one-size-fits-all answer. Sometimes the right decision is the one that best protects both dignity and hope.

“The Years We Almost Didn’t Have”

What I once thought might be the beginning of goodbye became more than ten additional years of memories, laughter, ordinary moments, and simply getting to still have my mom here.

Memorial Day is more than a long weekend.

For many families, it represents a loss that never fully stops echoing — the loss of a parent, child, spouse, friend, or the life they thought they would have together.

Today at Live Unstoppable, we pause to remember those who gave their lives in service to our country and to honor the families and communities who continue carrying that sacrifice forward.

I shared a reflection today called:
“The Weight Behind the Folded Flag.”

It’s not about politics or performance.
It’s about remembrance, gratitude, and the very human cost of sacrifice.

Memorial Day is more than a long weekend or patriotic tradition. It is a solemn reminder that the cost of sacrifice extends far beyond the battlefield and often echoes through families and generations.
