MDWFP wants to remind you that it is ALWAYS best to leave young wildlife alone!

Many Mississippians will come across some type of newborn wildlife that appears to be abandoned. Often times people mean well and pick up these animals in an attempt to care for them, but doing so can often do more harm than good.

For more information on why it's important to leave young wildlife alone, follow the link below.

Central Mississippi Wildlife Rehabilitation is a 501 c3 non profit organization licensed through the state of Mississippi to rehabilitate sick, injured, and/or orphaned mammals native to the state of Mississippi. CMWR does not take in any avian species. Over the holiday weekend, there are more people out and about and in turn more human/animal encounters causing our phone line to be extra busy. If you need assistance with an avian species (birds) please contact 1-800-BE-SMART as CMWR does NOT assist with birds of any kind. If you need assistance with a sick, injured, and/or orphaned mammal and you are able please send us a Facebook message first but please be patient as we are responding to each message and call as quickly as possible!
