“Mladi Behar" (Young Blossom) - The Bosnian-Herzegovinian Cultural Center of Idaho - was formed in July 2000 in Boise, Idaho. The name Young Blossom was chosen to signify a new beginning in a new country. We use traditional dance to transcend cultural barriers and as a means of sharing culture with the people of Idaho and to preserve Bosnian tradition for future generations. We are a volunteer-dri
ven non-profit organization with 501-c status under IRS code. Mladi Behar was founded by lrvaz Husić who invited local Bosnian teenagers to be part of a performing youth group, a place for the teenagers to come together and learn about their culture. Twenty kids showed up at the first meeting. After performing their first song “Vraćam ti se grade" (Return to my Home Town!) in Cassia Park, for the Bosnian Soccer team "Kra]išnik", Mladi Behar received better reviews than anticipated. At the end of the summer, we had a total of fifty members ranging in 12-25 years of age. At this point, we decided to incorporate traditional Bosnian Folk dance with traditional Bosnian song and host a grand opening. We saw March 8th, International Women's
Day, as our opportunity to debut our group and appeared before a crowd of 100 for the first time as ‘Mladi Behar". The event was held at the Basque Center in Boise on March 8th, 2001, and quickly became Mladi Behar's debut day and Anniversary.
