Congratulations to the Idaho Ground Water Association’s 2026 Scholarship Recipients! 🎉

This year, IGWA awarded $6,000 in scholarships to three outstanding students who represent the future of Idaho’s groundwater and drilling industry. These recipients were selected for their strong work ethic, dedication to their education, and commitment to carrying on their family legacies within the industry.

We are proud to support students who are investing in their futures while continuing the traditions and values that keep Idaho’s groundwater industry strong.

Congratulations to all three recipients! We can’t wait to see what your future holds!

Reminder for Our Drillers!

As development continues across Idaho, well decommissioning projects are becoming more common. The Idaho Department of Water Resources has shared a few important reminders to keep in mind:

• A decommissioning plan must be submitted and approved before any work begins, and a final report is required once the work is complete.
• Proper decommissioning may require perforating and pressure grouting when casing cannot be removed. Bentonite chips are only allowed in certain situations and should be discussed in advance.
• Only licensed well drillers may perform well decommissioning. Improper removal can lead to costly rework and delays, including issues with property occupancy approvals.

If you have questions, please contact your local inspector or the IDWR state office.
