Honoring the Bender Family-"The Bender House"

As we celebrate 60 years of Pine Lake, we remember the Bender family (the namesake of the Bender House pictured) and the legacy of faith, courage, and reconciliation they helped establish.

Nevin and Esther Bender came to Mississippi to serve among the Choctaw people during a time of deep division and prejudice. They chose to stay, build relationships, and faithfully serve their community.

In 1966, the Benders and others helped purchase the land that would become Pine Lake Fellowship Camp—the first racially integrated Christian camp for children in the region.

Their vision was about more than a camp. It was about creating a place where people from different backgrounds could gather together in Christian fellowship and experience reconciliation.

60 years later, that legacy continues.

We are grateful for the Bender family and for the seeds of reconciliation they planted—seeds that continue to touch generations today.

Celebration Time!
It’s the 1 year “Workiversary” for Russell & Kyra Kennedy. They joined the PLFC team last August, and Maria joined a few months later in May.

🔥 Will you help keep the campfire burning?

Camp has been a place where people of all ages meet Christ and grow in their faith over the past 60 years.

Campfire Keepers are monthly supporters who are part of continuing the story of God's faithfulness. They are people who believe in Pine Lake's mission of renewal & reconciliation and support it with a monthly gift.

Supporters have joined the team over the past few years, but as part of our 60th Anniversary, our board set a big goal...

60 new monthly donors for 60 years of ministry!
So far...we're at 13!

That means we're looking for 47 more people to support PLFC on a monthly basis. Your gift doesn't have to be large. It's the faithfulness of many people working together that makes a difference! Sounds like Pine Lake, right?

More photos from the 60-year history of camp:

"We're from Pine Lake, and we're on the best team. We do the watusi, we're seven feet tall! The shalligator may eat us, but he'll never beat us, cause we're from Pine Lake, and we're on the ball!"
-Pine Lake Fellowship Camp song

The buildings may have changed.
The trees have grown.
The ministry has expanded.

But the heart of Pine Lake remains the same:

Reconciliation with God, Nature, and Others.
