We’re proud to partner with school districts like Gooding to help bring fresh, local foods to students. When kids have access to high-quality options, they’re better fueled to learn, grow and explore new flavors.

Grateful to work alongside dedicated school nutrition teams and local producers who are committed to serving meals that keep students coming back to the cafeteria. 🥛🍎

We’re cheering loud for Team USA! 🇺🇸⛸️

Last year, Utah dairy farmer Mattie swapped boots for skates when she met U.S. speedskater Greta Myers. Mattie tried speed skating, Greta visited the farm to learn about dairy farming, and one very special heifer was named in Greta’s honor.

Now, as the US Speedskating Team takes the ice at the 2026 Winter Olympic Games in Milan, we’re sending all the luck from our dairy farms.

Go Greta! Go Team USA! We’ll be cheering every lap. 🥛❄️

Every day is Ag Day to us! 🌾🥛

On January 13, Governor Brad Little made it official by proclaiming Idaho Ag Day at the State Capitol. The Capitol rotunda was filled with a true taste of the Gem State, as Idaho agriculture groups gathered to showcase the diverse commodities that power our state’s economy and communities.

Dairy West joined the Idaho Dairymen's Association in representing Idaho dairy, sharing cheese and milk made from the hard work of Idaho dairy farm families. It was a meaningful opportunity to connect directly with legislators and guests, share our story and celebrate the role agriculture plays in Idaho every day.

New Dietary Guidelines, New Momentum for Dairy 🥛

The 2025 to 2030 Dietary Guidelines for Americans are officially out, and they will shape federal nutrition policy for the next five years. These guidelines influence major programs like the National School Lunch and Breakfast Programs, WIC and SNAP, and they help set the tone for how nutrition is talked about in schools, healthcare and everyday life.

For dairy, this update brings real opportunity because dairy stands out as a distinct, nutrient-dense food group:
• Recommended at three servings per day
• Full-fat dairy with no added sugars is now encouraged as part of balanced eating patterns
• Lower-fat and lactose-free options continue to be recognized as nutrient-dense choices
• Plant-based alternatives receive less emphasis than in previous Guidelines

This is a strong platform to keep dairy at the center of nutrition conversations, from pediatric care to school meals to family kitchens. It also supports continued innovation in products that meet today’s demand for protein, simplicity and great taste, while reminding consumers that dairy supports healthy growth, strong bodies and developing minds.

Dairy West is proud to partner with Reach Out and Read, a national nonprofit redefining pediatric care by pairing early literacy with nutrition education.

Alongside Oregon Dairy Council, Dairy Farmers of Washington and Midwest Dairy we’re launching 'Healthy Bodies, Healthy Minds,' an initiative designed to ensure dairy is part of the conversation around childhood nutrition during pediatric well-child visits.

Through this effort, 14,000 nutrition-focused books will be distributed to more than 500 clinics across Idaho, Utah, Washington and Oregon, reaching over 5,600 medical providers and supporting an estimated 650,000 well-child visits each year.

“Pediatricians are a trusted resource for families, and this initiative helps ensure dairy is part of the nutrition conversation. We want every family to know that dairy products support healthy growth, strong bodies and developing minds,” said Jaclyn St. John, director of health promotions at Dairy West.

Idaho dairy is looking to drive demand in Vietnam. 🇻🇳🐄

The Idaho dairy industry was well represented on the recent agricultural trade mission to Vietnam, led by Lt. Governor Scott Bedke and the Idaho State Department of Agriculture. Dairy West joined three Idaho processors — Commercial Creamery, High Desert Milk and Glanbia Nutritionals — to strengthen relationships and explore new export opportunities in one of Southeast Asia’s fastest-growing markets.

Dairy products continue to be one of Idaho’s leading agricultural exports to Vietnam. This mission helped open doors, deepen connections and highlight the quality and reliability of Idaho agriculture on the global stage.

“As a representative of Idaho’s dairy farmers, I was grateful for the opportunity to participate in the trade mission to Vietnam,” said Scott Snelders, Dairy West’s director of business development. “I believe the relationships we built throughout the week will lead to significant growth in exports for Idaho’s dairy processors.”

We’re grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with state and industry leaders to expand global partnerships for our region’s dairy farmers.

On behalf of our dairy farm families, our team was grateful for the opportunity to give back to the community.

This year, staff in both our Idaho and Utah offices participated in the Salvation Army Angel Tree program, purchasing holiday gifts for children in our communities. It was a meaningful way for our team to come together and share kindness during a time of year that can be especially difficult for many families.

We are honored to reflect the generosity and community spirit of our dairy farmers and appreciate the chance to brighten the season for those in need.

Love a good underdog story? We got one for you!

For the first time in more than a decade, Americans drank more milk last year. New federal data shows 2024 fluid milk sales increased by 358 million pounds, driven almost entirely by the growing demand for whole milk.

What’s behind the shift?
Consumers are turning toward foods that are protein-rich, minimally processed and made with simple, real ingredients. Health and fitness trends have spotlighted milk’s natural nutrition and high-quality protein, while foods like cottage cheese and yogurt continue to surge in popularity.

Whole milk in particular saw a three percent increase from 2023, reflecting a renewed interest across households with and without kids. And as experts note, when demand rises for fluid milk, dairy farmers feel that impact more directly.

While some analysts call this a small correction in a long-term trend, the data shows one thing clearly: people are rediscovering the value, taste and nourishment that real dairy delivers.
