A primary pillar of the Idaho Technology Council is to support the stability and growth of the tech talent pipeline. This includes a strong partnership between the ITC and all educators to ensure that Idaho places priorities on students who choose tech fields and filling Idaho Tech Jobs.

We are excited to celebrate Idaho students who particpated in the 2024 SkillsUSA. Winners ranged from a variety of learning institutions, including, Brigham Young University - Idaho., College of Southern Idaho, Dennis Technical Education Center, Meridian Technical Charter High School (MTCHS), North Idaho College, Cassia Regional Technical Center, and College of Western Idaho.

Students from across Idaho were invited to participate in America’s preeminent workforce development event. The 2024 SkillsUSA National Leadership & Skills Conference was held in June in Atlanta for career and technical students from across the nation. 197 Idahoans attended, including 95 student competitors. At the conference, students participated either as competitors or as voting delegates.

I could not be more excited to make this announcement. Betsy Ann will lead Idaho Women for Education as she pilots a program for at-risk women and girls. There is no doubt she will impact many families.

Congratulations, Betsy.

Boise, Idaho. Idaho Women for Education announced earlier today by President, Cindy Wilson, that the board has selected Betsy Davies as it's first Executive Director. Ms. Davies, a co-Founder of the new nonprofit, knew it was the perfect time to step into this role and lead the effort to serve at-ri...

Less that 2 months ago, Boise State Public Radio reported that once again, Idaho leads the nation in female incarceration at more than 2 times the national average.

This has a multitude of ripple effects on Idaho's workforce, economy and increasing recidivism rate. It has been my passion to seek the underserved and under resourced communities who are looking to start and grow a small business, however, women in prison where not on my radar until recently. I had no idea that Idaho was leading the nation in women imprisonment. I just did not know.

Women who transition out of incarceration can have difficulty in finding employment and this is a known fact even before their release. Entrepreneurship may be a viable option for some, which is where I may be able to make a difference, or at least, I am willing to try. I called the Women's Correctional Center to inquire as to if there might be interest in some business coaching, training and mentorship.

Through this fact finding mission, I connected with other WBCs who have programs for women who are in prison to reduce the recidivism rate. Jessie Yankee, a former WBC Executive Director in Missouri, recently shared her successful pilot program with me, so that we might be able to implement in Idaho.

I chose this program, Aspire ID, patterned after Aspire MO, to raise funds this week during Idaho Gives, using my passion nonprofit that Betsy Davies, Crystal Arnold, Cindy Wilson and Diane Bevan created in 2020, called Idaho Women for Education, 501c3.

We have a goal to raise funds to create the curriculum, and to make the necessary plans with the South Boise Women's Correctional Facility.

Please consider making even a small donation during week so that we can launch the program before the end of 2023.
