Today, we join so many around the world in remembering Dolly Parton, who passed away at the age of 80. While she will forever be remembered for her music, her talent, and the joy she brought to generations, at Illuminations Center for Dyslexia, we especially honor the incredible legacy she leaves in literacy.
Through Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, she helped place books into the hands of millions of children and showed the world just how powerful early access to reading can be.
For those of us who work every day to help children discover that they can become readers, her commitment to literacy holds a special place in our hearts.
Dolly understood something we believe deeply at Illuminations: a book can open a door, build confidence, spark imagination, and change the course of a child’s life.
Her voice may be gone, but the stories she helped place into the hands of children will continue to be read for generations.
Thank you, Dolly, for believing in children and for making literacy such an important part of your legacy. 📖❤️
Your impact will live on, one child and one book at a time.
