Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law

On this day in 1904 Aleister Crowley completed the reception of Liber CCXX - Liber Al vel Legis - The Book of the Law.

In his autobiography "The Confessions of Aleister Crowley" he write about this event saying that "Aiwass, uttering the word Thelema (with all its implications), destroys completely the formula of the Dying God. Thelema implies not merely a new religion, but a new cosmology, a new philosophy, a new ethics." - Chapter 49

In celebration of this Thelemic holy day, we at Khephra Rising want to wish you all a day filled with Light, Life, Love, and Liberty.

Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law

On this day in in 1904 Aleister Crowley received the first chapter of Liber CCXX - Liber AL vel Legis, in Cairo Egypt.

Crowley described the voice of the being "Aiwass" as thus. "It seemed to echo itself in my physical heart in a very strange manner, hard to describe. I have noticed a similar phenomenon when I have been waiting for a message fraught with great hope or dread. "

Thelemites everywhere celebrate today as "The First Day of the Writing of the Book of the Law", a celebration of the founding of Thelema and the declaring of man's spiritual rights. May the festivities today echo in your heart with great hope (or dread😜)
