Meet our outgoing and playful puppy boy named Axle! Axle was surrendered to our shelter after his owner lost their home and had nowhere to go with Axle. He is about 10 months old and he is just a ball of fun! Axle has big puppy energy! He loves to run around chasing toys and doing zoomies in our backyard. Axle can still be jumpy/mouthy when he gets overly excited, but he listens to correction well. His new family will need to work on normal puppy training/leash skills, but Axle is a smart boy who is ready to learn! He is a very friendly dog who will make a great companion for someone. Axle is good with other dogs and he can go to a home with children 12 years old and older who have experience with larger dogs.

If you are interested in adopting Axle Please Email us at [email protected] for an application! His adoption fee is $100.00.
PLEASE CHECK YOUR EMAIL SPAM FOLDER! Axle is located at the Meriden Animal Control shelter at 311 Murdock Ave in Meriden, CT. An application MUST be submitted and approved before making an appointment to meet any of our animals.

Meet our super handsome grey boy named Iverson! We believe Iverson is a little under a year old and he came to our shelter after he was found roaming in town. When our ACO went out to look for him, she found Iverson running around in the middle of the road looking so scared. She pulled over, got out of her vehicle to crouch down, and he ran right into her arms for safety. Iverson is a friendly boy who just wants to be everyone's friend! His pictures don't do him justice, he tends to freeze up in front of the camera. Iverson loves to get zoomies in our backyard and chase after squeaky toys. He takes treats gently and just wants some good pets. Iverson seems fine with other dogs and he can go to a home with chidlren 12 years old and older.

If you are interested in adopting Iverson Please Email us at [email protected] for an application! His adoption fee is $100.00.
PLEASE CHECK YOUR EMAIL SPAM FOLDER! Iverson is located at the Meriden Animal Control shelter at 311 Murdock Ave in Meriden, CT. An application MUST be submitted and approved before making an appointment to meet any of our animals.

Our sweet special needs puppy Luna is about 9 month old, growing up in the shelter all alone. 😥
She doesn’t understand why all her friends are being adopted while she waits and no one comes to meet her because she’s a little special. 💔
💗Luna started having tremors and seizures shortly after being surrendered to our shelter. Unfortunately, we don’t have the funding as a municipal shelter to send her to a neurologist for an mri, so our vets did their best and started her on a medication called Phenobarbital which she takes twice as day as a treat and is a very small expense!
🤞🏻Fingers crossed, since starting the meds Luna has been feeling much better and hasn’t had any seizures or tremoring episodes. 😁
🎾🧸She is your typical puppy, silly and sweet. Loves to play, cuddle and give kisses. She’s fine around cats(she’s actually more scared of them than they are of her) and loves to play with other dogs. We think a home with another playful dog would be best for her to continue to gain confidence.🐾
🏡She will be fine in a home with kids 12+ with dog experience, as she can become spooked easily and is sometimes shy meeting new people. (She’s a chicken little 🐓🤣) After a few minutes of toys, cookies and pets, she’ll be glued to your side🩷
Luna is a petite pitty mix, who will stay on the perfect side of 40-45 pounds. She is already spayed, rabies vaccinated and microchipped. Our adoption fee is $100, but there is a possibility of waiving her fee due to special needs.🥰

📩📲If you’re interested in meeting Luna, or know of any rescues who could pull her into foster, please send an email to [email protected]

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE SHARE & SPREAD THE WORD OF LUNA💕

We’re delighted to announce that Pastor Burgess & a few members of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Meriden are stopping by our shelter tomorrow to say a blessing for our animals.
With how busy we are (we’ve already impounded over 130 animals since July 1st) we can surely use a blessing and some prayers 💘
They are also offering blessings for resident’s pets in our parking lot between 10-12, so please feel free to stop by. If you cannot bring your pet, they are happy to say a prayer over a photo ☺️
We’re also asking if you do stop by, please consider bringing any kind of pet food item for donation, as we’re running extremely low 🐾
And if you cannot stop by, please say a prayer for all of our animals in need of a loving home🐾🕊️

DOES ANYONE RECOGNIZE ME???

#132 This dog has been spotted roaming in the areas of Allen Ave, Finch Ave, Beverly Dr and even down to Oregon Rd for the past week.

One of our ACO’s was finally able to catch him over the weekend before the storm (9/26) with the help of a nice woman who was continuing to leave out a safe space with food and bedding for him for a few days🩵

He’s an unaltered, middle aged, bully mix. No microchip. We aren’t sure if someone is missing him, or if he was let go in the area intentionally 🙁

He seems like a real sweetheart, but is very scared and shut down in the kennel. We would like to know if he’s had any vet history, or even what his name is 🥺

If anyone recognizes him, please give our office a call and always leave a message 203-235-4179

Please share!

We are still here at the Durham Fair all day! Don't let the rain scare you off! All the buildings are open and food vendors are here ready to feed everyone.
We are located in the center of the Marketplace building with the craft vendors.

All money raised is going right to our medical fund! Did you know Saving Paws spent over $50,000 in vet bills last year? That does not including any funding from the City of Meriden. We're currently on track to spend that again this year. Without our supporters, we wouldn't be able to continue getting so many animals the help that they need!
As a reminder, no donations go towards anyone's salary. All funds go directly to our animals and our community programs!
We have some really awesome raffle prizes this year, including a free spay or neuter surgery for a dog or cat! Click through our photos to see the raffle prizes available.
