Our hearts go out to the Family and Friends of our lost brother!

Today we lost one of our own.

Brother Elvin Hernandez, 60, a CTDOT employee since 2010, was struck and killed this morning while doing road maintenance work on I-95 in Fairfield.

Elvin was a proud member of CEUI Local 511, and he was our brother. Our hearts are with his family, friends and his co-workers at the Stratford garage.

This did not have to happen. Our members risk their lives every day to keep Connecticut’s roads safe. They can only be safe when drivers take their safety seriously.

Slow down. Put the phones down. Move over. Let our members get home to their families.

Rest in peace, Brother Elvin. We will honor you by staying united and continuing this fight for safer work zones.
