We are looking for donations of baked goods for a Bake sale to raise funds for the Historical Society. The Bake Sale will be held during the City Wide yard sales on May 31 and June 1st. We also will be selling hot dogs, chips and a drink for $2.50 and add a $1.00 for a brat. We would love for you to come out and support us and fill your tummy while you are out shopping, and grab a treat or pie for later. If you would care to donate a baked good, please contact me @ 313-910-8830 by Wednesday May 22! Thank you in advance!

We've been busy down at Historical Society getting things cleaned up. We were able to donate the remaining items from Yard sale to the Attic in Jacksonville. We appreciate all who stopped in to see what we are doing and our plans to bring the Historical Society back. We are still awaiting our 5013C in order for us to be considered Not-for-profit status. We are hoping this will be soon. If you don't mind a little dust, we would love for anyone to drop in anytime. We are asking for all of you to share our page and invite anyone you know. Thanks again.

The following is a public service announcement regarding the demolition blasting of the first portion of the old bridge. The following info is accurate at the time of posting, but as with any operation of this type info is subject to change or be cancelled at any time.
The blue circle in the photo represents the 1000 foot radius for the first section slated for demolition tomorrow, August 1st. The red circle represents the 1000 foot radius for the next section of demolition currently slated for sometime in late August.
The demolition for tomorrow, August 1st, is scheduled at 4pm. Law enforcement will begin shutting down Village streets and alleys at approximately 2pm along the perimeter of the blue circle. Thru traffic on State Highway 104/bridge will remain flowing until the last possible minute and should reopen within 10-15 minutes after the blast.
If you live or operate a business inside the blue circle you should have already received instructions from construction/demolition personnel. Please follow those instructions. If there are any questions, confusion, concerns, or emergencies please contact emergency services or the gentleman from the TURPO agency whom came around and spoke to you, as early as possible.
For this first blast it will be very difficult to see the operation from anywhere outside the blue circle. The public viewing area will be set up along old Main Street near Wheeler Auto.
I would like to thank everyone in advance for your cooperation with law enforcement, first responders, and the construction/demolition personnel during this operation. Please follow any last minute or on scene instructions that they may give you tomorrow. The public's safety is our utmost concern during this task.
