It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of our dear friend and comrade, Jim Hanneman, Sr. Jim exemplified what it meant to be a veteran and a member of the VFW β dedicated, selfless, and deeply committed to both his fellow service members and his community. He lived a life of service, honor, and quiet strength, always putting others before himself and answering the call whenever he was needed.
Jim was more than a member of our post; he was family. Whether he was volunteering his time, supporting fellow veterans, participating in community events, or sharing stories and laughter, Jim made a lasting impression on everyone he met. His unwavering patriotism and love for this country were evident in everything he did, and his legacy will continue to inspire us all.
As we mourn this tremendous loss, we also celebrate a life well lived β one marked by courage, generosity, and dedication to something greater than oneself. The empty seat he leaves behind will be deeply felt, but the memories and impact he gave us will never fade.
We extend our deepest condolences to his beloved wife, Kathy, and to the entire Hanneman family, friends, and loved ones. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, February 21st, 2026, at Wichmann Funeral Home, 537 North Superior Street, Appleton, WI. Visitation will begin at 2 PM, with a Catholic service at 4 PM and food and refreshments to follow.
In honor of Jim, we encourage everyone to take a moment to reflect on the sacrifices made by those who serve and to cherish the camaraderie that binds us together.
Rest easy, Jim. Your watch is over β we will take it from here.
All gave some, some gave all. πΊπΈ
