Counterfeit pills can look nearly identical to legitimate prescription medications, but their appearance does not reveal what they contain. Fake pills may contain fentanyl or other dangerous substances in unknown amounts, increasing the risk of a potentially fatal overdose.

Protect yourself and those you care about:

Only take medications prescribed to you and dispensed by a licensed pharmacy.

Never assume a pill is safe based on its color, shape, markings, or packaging.

Remember that fentanyl cannot be reliably identified by sight, smell, or taste.

A pill that looks real is not necessarily safe. Know the risks, share this information, and help prevent overdose.
